One thing I always do before removing an air filter is to make sure the choke is fully on. Helps to stop any dust going down the throat of the air intake.

Great explanation on the saw John. 55 years ago, I used to complain about going out with Dad and my older brother to cut wood and fill a tandem trailer. Now that I look back on it, it was a great time. We're being spoiled by technology these days. Farm life was so much fun when I was a kid. I'm envious of you in some ways, but it's a hard living if you don't have a bit of luck with things.

Farming is hard if you have debt. We get firewood most Sunday afternoons although not as much as we needed to before I built our firewood splitter. We have become more efficient lately so we have a fair bit in reserve. Firewood is one chore I look forward to its strait forward cleans up the place and we get a valuable resource. John

Great review, John 👍🏼. I have the 62cc with a 20” bar and I absolutely, love it, it just outdoes other saws that I have. Your 72 and 91 cc saws must be exceptional saws as well. Thanks for the review, mate.

Another great video John. Looks like both of the saws will serve you well. I can't believe how they can make such a good saw for the money.

I was in jono and jono recently and you didn't mention there is a noticeable weight difference. Anything under a 25 inch bar would I believe make it heavy. Feel out of balance value can't beat it a 3rd of the price of a sthill.
@farminglifeaustralia6716
@farminglifeaustralia6716 Жыл бұрын
Yes I wouldn't put anything smaller than 25inch. I have a longer bar on one of my 066 saws so I didn't get a long bar with the saw. John

@farminglifeaustralia6716
@farminglifeaustralia6716 Жыл бұрын
Well it depends on what you want the saw for. If its an all round saw for a bit of fire wood and general clean up then I would go for the 70 cc. If you want a saw to cut big firewood rounds and fell big trees then I would go for the 91.6cc saw. John

@@farminglifeaustralia6716 probably the 70cc mate. I dont drop too many big trees, more often cleaning up the big limbs the gums drop. Though i coukd use the power on some big turpentine trees that come down - high silica wood

Hi John, totally off topic but I've been looking through some of your older videos and came across some of your sculptures. I think you had an upcoming exhibition at Ingham. Anyway, I'm such a fan of your art. Do you still exhibit your work?

Love The Video, have you got another update on the cards for the 91.6cc model soon? I have been looking at second hand 064 and 066s but for cheaper i can grab a Perla Barb. Would love your thoughts on it

All my Perla Barb saws are going good. I have heard from buyers who have had small problems and Jono & Johno have fixed it up ASAP. I own an 066 and they are a very good saw if treated properly. The saw that Perla Barb sells is made in China and branded with other brands as well as Perla Barb. I have seen them for sale in the US sites and branded as Holtsforma not the old ones they are different. I think because the 066 was such a good saw and the size is good for a felling saw is probably the reason it was a saw that was copied. I think it depends on what you are doing with your saw. If you rely on your saw for a living then thats a different thing to needing a saw on a farm to do general farm work. The other thing is if you know very little about chain saws you are probably better to go to a shop and buy a new saw and let them service it and keep it running. I am a bit shy of second hand saws unless I know the history. John

Thanks John, I went for an 064 thats been looked over by the a local fella that specialises in older Stihls. Unfortunately I haven't had great dealings with my local stihl shop. so I would rather spend the money on a second hand saw and save having to deal with them. Once my old 034 finally decides to die I think it will be a Perla Barb v1 to replace it. Thanks for your advice, really appreciate it

The 62cc isn't a direct copy of anything (unlike the 70cc husky clone, or the 90cx stihl clone). Its apparently a stand alone model, but a decent one - according to the bloke at Jono and Jono i spoke to

The 91cc saw needs massive arm strength because like all Chinese saws, it is terribly heavy especially if you add a larger bar.
