Lovely video! I wanted to ask - if you use nothing at all as in the last example, can you really consider them raised beds? If so, I'd imagine that unfortunately they wouldn't be very permanent due to soil loss during rains.

They may not technically be raised beds if they don't have a border. Soil loss is minimal though because the paths are heavily mulched which helps hold soil in place.

I made a few giant raised (mounded) beds for someone once out of leaves, bagged compost, and a truckload of manure. 2 beds, each About 15'x8'' and almost 3' tall at first. Built them in fall out of layers -manure, leaves, compost -repeat. And capped with compost and peat. Let them cook over the winter (definitely hot compost...it was very green manure) and they lost about a third of their height by spring. They were mounds with sloped sides and flat tops... They held up well and produced great veggies. Any areas that had run off problems were just shoveled off the path surrounding the beds. What a lot of work !

You may have to fix them now and then but tech they do work a pile can always be fixed.

I dont think old fence posts are a good idea, people used to cover them with used motor oil

Obviously I'm not recommending those. These are black locust.
