Permanent WLED Christmas Lights Upgrade Dig Uno to Dig Quad!

In this video I upgrade my over worked Dig Uno controller to a Dig Quad to increase current capacity as well as provide a safer install with the built in fused distribution block.
I also show a few bits of programming of my lights and setup of WLED pixel light control software for individually addressable LED pixel lights.

Great suggestions. Great video showing the reasons and methods for upgrading your Dig device. Despite what others may say, DigQuads are a lower-cost controller, and WLED is still the best option for permanent house LEDs. This controller will still work great for your outlines even if you get into more holiday lighting. For reference, another great way to do this upgrade would have been to use Settings > Security & Updates to backup your config and your presets. Then you could restore them to the new board without having to reconfigure everything. Even easier would have been to take the old ESP32 chip off your DigUno and swap it with the one on the new DigQuad. They are interchangeable and wouldn't have required any extra configuration. But, great job sharing your information with the community.

I did do a backup, although I didn't show that part. I was going to swap the board, but I ordered the dig quad with an external antenna. Great suggestions though!

The onboard antenna was ok, but had a low signal as the controller is located at the far corner of my garage. Since I was getting the dig quad, I opted for the external antenna. Thanks for your comments!!

2 suggestions: 1. use wago 221 wire connectors instead of the standard wire nuts (this was a life changing find for me, all of my 120v switches all use them now as well as non soldered led connections) 2. If you're looking to take your shows to the next level, XLights software is very powerful but takes a little time to figure out how to learn it with WLED

I have a Dig-Uno then upgraded to a Dig-Quad and now I run both of those and an Did-Octa now with 16 fused power ports

Thank you for taking your time on making this video. I recently bought some permanent holidays LEDs and the controller is terrible. Found your video and just got my dig-quad. I am new to this. By any chance do you have a wiring connection of your setup especially where the connection points on the roof eves to the dig-quad? This is what my kit came with: I have 375 24vdc LEDs 1.92w per puck 4 power supply 1 controller 1 sp901 Any help is appreciated. Cheers 🍻
