Bit of an oil leak between the pan and the block. I tried sealing it with RTV from the outside but it still leaked a little bit. Read up about this stuff and decided to give it a try

This stuff really does stop the oil leaks. For shade tree/back yard guys: get the vehicle up on solid jack stands. Have some sheets of cardboard to lay on and catch the drips. Wear a cheap face shied, disposable gloves, long sleeve shirt and a cap or head covering. Had to use a little gasoline and rag to get some out of my hair. My old 94 Ranger leaked for many years at the oil pan gasket. I first cleaned underneath with Gunk engine cleaner and then again with carb cleaner. Then I used a toothbrush size wire brush to get it good where the gasket is and sprayed with carb cleaner again and let it dry good. I used the nozzle to get in close. I removed the starter to get that area good. The nozzle allows you to get to any tough to reach spots. I ordered two cans. One can gave me 4 good coats. I did 5 coats. It dries to an almost clear, but kind of a yellow tint. It leaked bad in many places and for many years. Not a drop so far. It stays pliable, which allows it to expand and contract, which is why I believe it will hold a long time. Promise to come back later for an update. ** I gave an update that is listed below. It lasted 2 years.

Yes. It is beginning to leak again and I see where it is coming loose in different areas. Not a permanent fix I think that after 304K miles, it was acking too much.

A few months. I removed it and reslealed it all with Permatex Ultra Black and that took care of all of the leaks.

i would have liked to see the pan immediate after use application and maybe later after a few miles in use? It seems messy but a bit of masking up and ground cover would hold that.

Not sure if it was this exact product but in the 90s I used this several times on oil pan to engine leaks. The leaks are very lite. It worked but you need to make sure you do the job right. The product seemed to work as the leaks did not return. Not for big leaks or where there is pressure.

How much pressure will this sealant hold? I have a seemingly invisible pinhole split on one of my lines running into my fuel pump. It emits a fine mist. Would this stuff work?
@CtrlAltDefeatTV6 жыл бұрын
I think this stuff works for seeps or drips only, I don't think it'll seal pressurized leaks very well. Being that your leak is fuel I would definitely fix it properly with new line. Fuel and leaks isn't something you want to mess around with.

@CtrlAltDefeatTV5 жыл бұрын
Possibly - that's pretty much exactly what this spray was designed for. I say go for it, not much to lose at that point. Just make sure you clean the surfaces as best you can and maybe drain some oil so it's not seeping out as you spray the sealant on.

Hi! do you think it is works on Transmission Axle output seal leaks?
@CtrlAltDefeatTV6 жыл бұрын
I don't think it would work for that. This stuff works for leaks where there isn't any movement like an oil pan gasket. Leaks that are coming from seals like in your situation are a little more difficult to stop because the seal is pressing against a moving component.
