You got yourself one awesome ride there Mason. I just replaced my 15 year old Permobil Street (rear wheel drive) with an M3 Corpus (mid wheel drive). It took some getting used to the center drive wheels at first because it turns 360° in place and doesn't operate quite the same as the rear wheel drive. The rear wheel drive is more stable when going full speed simply due to the physics of the design. It's great for open spaces and fast driving, but it's harder to maneuver in tight spots. The M3 is great in tight spots but a bit tricky at full speed. Each design has its assets and liabilities. I'm sure you'll be very pleased with your standing chair Mason. I hope that it fulfills your every need! Take care brother, God bless!!!

Yeah, insurance doesn't usually pay for the standing feature. I went through vocational rehabilitation to cover the cost of the standing feature. Every state has a vocational rehabilitation service, and I recommend connecting with them if you want to get the standing feature added at some point. I used a standing frame every day for 4 years until I got this wheelchair, and standing in the wheelchair is much more convenient and beneficial. I hope you enjoy your new wheelchair! A great PWC! Great demonstration and presentation of the standing, operation, and cons. It looks like you've elected the more aggressive tires, Mason. At 2,700 miles on the old Permobil C500, and going strong, I believe it's your rear tires (softer compound/ aggressive tread) that cause hesitation on carpet based on never using other than the standard tread option. My primary PWC is a Quickie QM710 as the vendor refused selling a Permobil due to no profit. He offered, Invacare, Quantum, and ROVI - "NO." They dealt with Sunrise Medical and with 3 manual chairs/ one power chair in my past, the Quickie was my choice wo regret. Next time it's an F5!

It hasn't been happening for a little while now, so that's good. I have only owned a Permobil power wheelchair and a TiLite manual wheelchair.

@@masonx54 FYI. Recently, I discovered that Permobil use two-pole motors in their F3 and M3 pwc models. Their F5 and M5 models use four-pole motors. The smaller pwc's are intended for indoor/ light-duty outdoor applications - two-pole motors use less battery, but do not have the torque four-pole motors have. The F5 and M5 are more robust and endure rural living, last longer, and consume more battery. Permobil - nothing compares in quality, durability, and engineering. The Quickie QM710, with four-pole motors (both replaced a third time), has been a disappointment due to break downs.

I just had a seating evaluation and they decided I needed a new kind of cushion...and I found out something about the low profile (2 1/2") versus the high profile (4"). Apparently the 4" will make you feel unstable; whereas the lower profile cradles you more and makes you feel more stable. Also, they suggested to slightly under inflate it for the most comfort.
@masonx542 ай бұрын
When I got my Permobil F5 Corpus VS, the cushion it came with was all air. However, I had it replaced with air/foam because the all air made me feel very unstable.

Right on, Mason! I'm a C4/C5 quad and that's an excellent review. I also have a F5 Corpus wheelchair a lot like yours with the newer LED headlamps, however, my joystick looks a little different. You touched on a lot of good points, especially the noise. Still, in my opinion, it's better than the alternatives. You can have the anterior tilt profile disabled if you don't use it which makes one less mode you need to toggle through. I noticed you didn't mention the Bluetooth or infrared functions. I love the Permobil app for your phone because it gives you more information on your battery status/range and how many weight shifts you have performed. How long have you been injured? 26 years here. Nice deer on your walls! 🙂

@@dardoazambuya very as long as you take care of it. I have been injured for thirty years and it is by far the most reliable, however, it is not the most compact nor does it have the lowest floor to seat height. Still, I'll take reliability and manage with the rest. It is also very configurable if you need a different backrest or subtle changes with the height or angle of your armrests. The only thing I wish these power chair companies would do is make all the tilt, recline, elevator, and leg actuators variable speed that could be programmable through the joystick. For example, I like to tilt back in my wheelchair while I'm waiting at doctors appointments and then when I'm called I wish I could return to a straight up seating position faster. I've yet to see a power wheelchair with that feature. Good luck choosing a new wheelchair!

Mason, it appears you have gained a noticeable amount of upper body strength: and your agility has definitely improved. Do you attribute your progress to the increased amount of stand up time? Have you noticed an improvement? Also, have you checked out the Berkel bike? If not, please do. With the FES stimulation,the bike allows a paralyzed person to build muscle below their level of injury. They can regenerate atrophied muscle and eliminate pressure soars. These bikes are really cool. The people I have seen using them are noticeably in good health. I realize you are busy with work and college but if you have the time I would really appreciate your opinion regarding these bikes.
@masonx542 жыл бұрын
I believe I have improved my strength over time, not necessarily due to standing. I have not heard of the Berkel bike but just looked it up. I know about stationary FES bikes and handcycles but the Berkel bike seems to combine the two, giving great results.

@@masonx54 Hey, I somehow missed your reply regarding the Berkel bike. I just read your reply. Thank you. I think many insurance companies will try and gyp some one out of their measured measurements and give you wheelchairs or medical equipment they already have in the shop. I have seen this happen several times now and they did it to me twice. I know of one girl who measured 17 X 19 and they gave her one that was 18 X 20 because the tech said she was 'going to get fatter'. Balogne...that was a standard size one that was already in the shop. She ended up getting pressure sores behind the knees because the seat length was too long. There was a girl with severe CP...they gave her the wrong color one as well as it was also 18 X 20 instead of her 16 X 19. They thought she wasn't able to speak up for herself and tried to pawn something else off on her that was in the shop. Please don't assume wheelchair companies are on the up and up. What kind of chair do I use...a Colours Spazz-G with NaviONE power assist wheels. I was told I needed a power wheelchair...but since I broke my neck goofing off in a power wheelchair (imagine the irony there), I refuse to get one...but I thought the power assist wheels was a good compromise. Are you sure WD 40 or velcro pads won't help with that squealing? Dan, with 'Totally Normal' also drives with an EZ Lock and I believe he did a video on how he eliminated the squeak. He had that issue as well I believe. He can repair any power wheelchair blindfolded...so you may get some good tips from his videos.

@masonx542 жыл бұрын
Hey Jennifer! Yes, I love the feeling of standing up. I got an Easystand Evolv standing frame in 2017 and have been standing everyday since then. Standing in my Permobil F5 Corpus VS feels much more natural, kind of like my body is less supported or stiff.

I am able walk a small amount, not very well. I have love hate relationship with my chair. I like some things, mostly hate it. it's in the factory for repairs, been two weeks. What issues are you having with your wheelchair?
@celticqaidbear2 жыл бұрын
@@masonx54 Gas struts and springs are not expanding as they should,. Then it causes one drive off the ground. I can put whole hand under the wheel. Quickie rep said it was high centering. It would spin very fast turning left. If I didn't have my seating belt on , I would have tossed from the chair. Not happy camper.

Awesome! I'm not sure if the first strap I got came standard or it's just what was ordered but it had a button on it that was difficult to push and line up to buckle. I noticed your knee guards r positioned up close to your knees at all times. I have the seat elevator and sometimes I’ll put knee guards on and tilt (also have anterior tilt) all the way forward so I’m halfway standing. But they’ve got my knee brace positioned with 2 inches of space between my knees and the knee guards. So when I tilt all the way forward with seat elevator all the way up, of course I slide forward into guards. Then when I’m done and go down, I’m practically laying on my back! Are they positioned wrong??
