@@starc. There are plenty of numbers that don't have every combination. For example, the number that has 1s, with an increasing number of 0s between each 1. It starts 1.010010001000010000010000001... As we can see, it doesn't contain every finite combination of digits, because it has only 0s and 1s. It doesn't even have all combinations of 0s and 1s, since it doesn't have "11" anywhere.

Irrational number repeats itself again at some point. Pi never repeats itself, it has infinite series of numbers without repeating blocks. PS: I'm not saying no number is repeated, I'm saying no string of numbers is repeated.

Keep in mind that this was in season 2 and Dominic doesn't appear till season 4. I think the writers didn't plan that far ahead when creating future antagonists. But it would've been great to see him in here.

But that is not the point I am making at all. Mr. Finch is making the assumption that those numbers have meaning. In point of fact they do not. Pi is a random number that contains no meaning whatsoever other than the answer to the question, "What is the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter?" The point I am making is that the information does not exist in PI unless it is embedded by a mind. Information is not merely a set of numbers or letters. Information is the meaning that is embedded in those numbers and letters. So pi does not have this information. It must be superimposed. A similar point could be made in the movie Knowing(kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ldaHipqJ0sfYZqM.html ) where Nicolas Cage takes his son's page of random numbers and begins to discover that those numbers have within it an embedded meaning. The number sequence in that movie had a specific meaning embedded within it. The author of those numbers deliberately set them in that sequence to embed information. Pi, however, does not have information embedded in it whatsoever. It is merely and endless random sequence of numbers that can possibly be used to assign information to it such as a birth date or a word. Such an assignment must come from some mind and not the numbers themselves. Mr. Finch does make a captivating introduction to the concept of pi, but his assumption that information is already embedded in these random numbers is fallacious. End of line.

@@TuziTalks He isn't suggesting that those numbers have meaning by themselves. Those numbers can have multiple meanings to different people. "2011" might mean something different to you than it does to me. He is suggesting that all those students might find different meanings in the numbers that Pi contains because the infinite possibilities of the world live in them and Pi reflects that.
