That's actually an articulated dummy, like a 90 pound ragdoll, used if people fall from buildings, cars, trains etc. Usually replaced by an actor after a cut. MUCH cheaper than a stuntman

Bear just fits with the group. Broken people with high skills, a sordid past, etc. Reese basically asks the dog: 'Wanna come with us?' Bear says:'hell yeah!' and Finch gets an extra bodyguard.

@@finnvfl1539 the first 2 words are a bit unclear to me but the last one is clearly german: auf liegen, which is translated to lying on. This doesnt make sense ofcourse. This also happend in south park (and other shows were they mix German and dutch Im dutch and i had 3 years of german and have a German GF.

@@pietjewaanman3506 random I know, but I used to teach English to children from all over the world. If you have children please speak to them in both your native language & non native language. That’s the way to have bi lingual children 😀 So you would speak to them mainly in Dutch but also German sometimes, especially if you’re having a conversation with your gf and them or in ear shot of them 🌸🌸🌸

When Reese turned around and whistled for Bear, it made me so happy. I was so excited they were going to include him in the show. I think in a story, if it's appropriate and it's done right, adding a dog can humanize the characters and give many people in the audience something to relate to. (ie, Reese may be an epic badass, but he loves doggos just like I do.) The writers did a good job working Bear into the show, and giving him a personality, but in a realistic way, so he's not just some random dog that's always there, but he's also not anthropomorphized. The scenes with Bear also added some humor to the show. They were already good at balancing the edge-of-your-seat intense-ness with the humor, but I think Bear helped with that. Overall, this is one of those rare cases where adding a dog to the show wasn't pointless, and they didn't just sort of mention that oh yeah, the main character has a dog now and then never show the dog again, but they actually wrote the dog into the show as a character.

I guess Finch might have also felt anxious because he had had to let go of his love and then growing fond of not only Reese but also Bear probably brought back those fears that if he gets too attached to these two new friends, he might have to lose them too at some point. And how many people want to lose those they care about not once but twice?

POI did it right when they introduced a dog into the show. The Last Ship introduced a military dog named Halsey in the pilot episode but wasn't used very much throughout the series.

That and the way bear just took to Shaw when she joins up and the little tease at the end of the series that Shaw, Bear and Root keep doing the work set by Finch and Reese. One of my favorite shows from start to finish.

@@Siper2 Shows often do that with antagonists that are popular with the viewing public. I call it The Vegeta Effect. At least in The Last Airbender, Zuko was a complex character who was developed over time and struggle you achieve a redemption arc. Root and Finch just kind of entered into a mutual non aggression pact. Anyway, mostly what I meant is that after Henson left the show, she took a lot of viewers with her who had been following her in particular.

It was criminal the way Hollywood blackballed him for years after The Passion, right at the height of his career. This was a great way for him to come back to work (yes he did a couple movies in between but I doubt many people could name any without hitting imdb first). When the Game Stands Tall is a *pretty good* football movie (I have a hard time putting it up against Remember the Titans, The Blind Side, Rudy, freaking *Brian's Song* ) but having Jim Caviezel and Michael Chicklis in it together was more than enough to add it immediately to my collection.

@@TheSchaef47 Well said. I just love Jim as a person. He's so wonderful and has never backed down from his morals. I'm not surprised Hollywood blackballed him, and I doubt he is too. Mel Gibson even told him "Be prepared to have career troubles after this movie is done, because it may ruin you." Something like that. And he did it anyway. That's how you know where Jim's heart truly is. Hollywood is a club for satanic rituals and perpetual elitism anyway, and that's just not Jim. He's such a beautiful person in so many ways, but also so down to earth. I wish I could meet him.

I knew someone who had one as a pet (when the US shut down their UK bases, they had a few around for... reasons, but never sprang to ship them back to the US, so he got adopted), and he was indeed a very smart dog. Very friendly, even though he was clearly capable of tearing out your throat whenever he felt like it. Fortunately, he never did

The only sad thing is that in this scene the "Dutch" commands are spoken like they are "German". It makes much difference. Ah well....nothing we haven' t seen before. And still this is the best series of all times 😊

Just because Dutch and German sound simular does not mean some words are exclusive for one language. He used 4 commands that are normal Dutch words Foei: Bad, Bad dog, unwanted behaviour Stil: Keep quite, shut up, no more sound Afliggen: Actualy 2 words not 1. Af and Liggen can have multiple meaning but in context of this scene Af = back down, stand down and Liggen = lay down All 4 words are perfect normal Dutch words to use when dealing with dogs. First he uses Foei to tell the dog his behaviour is unwanted. Stil to get the dog to stop barking. Af to command the dog to stand down and Liggen to get the dog in a horzontal position down on the floor.

They are just spoken with a strong German accent, which makes no sense, since Reece has no German roots or whatsoever in this series. If u were Dutch you would understand. Let's compare it to US and UK English, both are the same english. But "water" in American English doesn't sound anything like "water" in UK English. Now imagine u have a series with an American president who says "water" with an British accent. There u have it.....

Bear and Reese are exactly the same I've finally realized; how many men did he maul before Reese allowed him to be an honorable puppy? Neither character had ever wanted to do harm but found themselves doing such.

I knew someone who had a dog professionally trained like this, also trained in Dutch. He stated it was mist the gentle dog ever, good around children. He did adopt the dog under the condition he was never told the commands (his choice).

Lightingwarrior no the line itself is solid its just the pronounciation that makes me cringe. in friends there was also an episode in wich some of them have to speak a couple of lines of dutch and it sounds good , for an american anyway but this.... i thought they have dialect coaches on shows like this

i wish so badly they would have added 1 or 2 seasons more of them fighting crime before they focused mainly on the war of the machines! this series was still kick ass hehe :)!!

Even with a life threatening injury he nearly kills the head of HR. I suspect if he hadn't been injured the guy wouldn't have had a chance. Although, the drama was better with the way it played out.
