My sweet Sis Mahalia was undoubtedly a born again new creature IN Christ who dearly loved her Lord and Savior with her whole heart and soul! In our home as we children were growing up, Mother played her records constantly for she glorified the Lord, exalting Him with her extraordinary singing voice! I've been a Christian for 45 years now, and I look forward to meeting her in Glory in the Presence of God the Son Incarnate! Praise ye the Lord FOREVER!!!❤

26:50-26:58 She is the truest! I was doing my family genealogy research and was fortunate to find a few people. One I became close to was my mothers fathers brother. He had dementia or the other mind issue but I remember seeing the old guy that was went viral for responding to music. I thought I would try something similar but via conversation. I asked him, my old uncle with dementia if he listened to gospel music. He said yeah and that he ( we live in Tx) use to sing with Mahalia Jackson on the "Chitlin Circuit!" I had learned through another family member that he was a great singer and only sung gospel. My antennas went up when I heard Mahalia Jackson. If only they had a camera and took pictures back then while traveling... Still sits in my mind to think he use to trace with her via the black travel quartets and etc.

I came here to see Mahalia Jackson. Something came up in conversation and I was trying to recall an interview where she spoke about how everyone loved her so much but when they would see her on the street they would talk down to her because she was black. Wonder if any of these children are still around and if they remember the making of this show.

What a precious woman! But we no longer depict JESUS as being on the Cross. The LORD died there, but He rose from the dead! Now JESUS is ALIVE! HE said, "Because I live, ye shall live also." John 14:19b! Folks USED to call me "That girl with the record player!" Mrs Jackson probably never disturbed people with HER music. But I DID! So I'm so glad the LORD delivered me from the music I played so loud! (My neighbors were certainly glad too! They SAW I was a new creature!) "Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new." 2 Corinthians 5:17! JESUS is RETURNING SOON! ALLELUIA! 🙏🙌

Was Mahalia Jackson a Roman Catholic? Why did she have all of those Roman Catholic icons in her room?

She was baptist
@jeremiahjangad53882 жыл бұрын
@@davidmoore8151 Then I couldn't understand why she had those Roman Catholic icons in her home, even calling that corner as "God's throne." I hope the interview was just scripted, that Mahalia was just playing the character of a devout Roman Catholic in a movie.
@davidmoore81512 жыл бұрын
@@jeremiahjangad5388 because (watching other interviews of her) she didn’t believe in borders when it came to God. She identified as baptist but prayer is prayer is prayer. Which is the problem we have.

“I can’t go to the movies,” said Jackson. It’s a stunning statement. Listening to it is like a slap across the face, and so sad. The reality of 1958 was not pretty. I have to think that inside, Murrow realized it was a stupid question. It’s too bad he didn’t broach the subject of prejudice, which was virtually unspoken on television in the 1950s.
@michaela1081 Жыл бұрын
She lived in Chicago, she could go to the movies. But she would attract so much attention from fans, that it wouldn't have been worth going.
@mrakennedy Жыл бұрын
While that would’ve been a very interesting pivot in the conversation, she couldn’t go to the movies not because of prejudice but for religious purposes. It was taught that movies were of the world & the saints shouldn’t go.
@michaela1081 Жыл бұрын
@@mrakennedy yes, that also.

@@mrakennedy I appreciate the clarification. It’s certainly possible I read it wrong. Nevertheless, she wasn’t specific and Murrow didn’t follow up.

I’m not a fan of her voice much but more importantly, she is such a kind and caring soul though I am concerned that she got into a false church. I hope she did sincerely read the Bible and have true faith and made it/endured to the end to Paradise to be with Jesus. She is right - Jesus is the way to life.
