Frankly, I find the Harem Route hilarious, but just like in real life, messing with a girl's heart has....consequences.

Fun Fact: In Persona 5, if you went down the harem path and talk to Chihaya (the fortune teller), she will mention that she read your fortune and foresees some “female calamity” awaiting the protagonist.....foreshadowing the beat down you will receive....

The worst part about persona 4 is that the girls don't even get that angry, they're just sad and disappointed. Like, if they got angry you'll at least get a clear sense of what you did is wrong, but when they get like that it almost seems like they believe the problem is with them and not you, and that's more soul-crushing than anything else

To be fair, with Narukami's bros, one of them was completely socially unaware of the situation, and the other was jealous so he was perfectly fine with letting him crash and burn. In Amamiya's case, two of his bros weren't even aware of his situation, and the third one was a talking cat that half of his harem can't even hear. At least Amamiya had Brojiro on the case to smooth things over later somehow, Narukami just got murdered by Nanako. Then again, in Narukami's case, all of the girls somehow ended up blaming themselves for the situation, with Chie even straight up telling him she was "fine" (not really) with him cheating on her....so in a way he got off scot-free....if you count 5 crushed souls as free...

I remember having the harem stuff happen to me in P3P. When Yuko came in I didn't think anything of it. When she started talking about their relationship i started getting nervous. When Chihiro came I was sweating buckets. When she mentioned the MC walking her home I was having a heart attack. Luckily at that point the MC used his ace card: the bro-out attack. That scene was so nervewracking :p.

I'm surprised that people consider Persona 5's scene "worse" (in the sense of severity or pain). Yes, Joker getting his ass kicked may seem painful, but it's focused on a more humorous side (with things like all the girls being suspicious of seeing you with Ryuji instead of being suspicious of all the other girls in the room, or Sojiro saving your ass), yet in Persona 4 there's nothing funny, no snarky comments or a comical scene (Nanako's chocolate or Yosuke-Teddie-Kanji scene happens regardless of the Harem route), it's just having to see how each of the main girls feel bad about themselves, things like Chie accepting the idea that you can cheat on her because of the lack of confidence she has in herself as a woman, or Naoto implying that she already realized she's being cheated on, but prefers to lie to herself to not feel worse than she already does. In my opinion the Harem route in Persona 4 will always be the most painful.
