the protagonists are essentially a blank slate for the player to project themselves on, but weirdly and awesomely have so much character and personality at the same time, honestly when i play through the games i like to give them their cannon names, emo Jesus was definitely my favorite before joker stole my heart.

Though Yu was for me a kind youth, while I was playing Persona 3 I thought of Minato as some sort of anti-hero (though I still chose the "good" options in dialogue). A guy who had no fear of anything, even death itself. Kinda reflects his development: (Spoilers) Orpheus-who couldn't accept the death of Eurydice and went to Hades to try and revive her, but failed. Represents how he isn't afraid to die, he just wants his parents back. Thanatos-the god of death, when he accepts that death is inevitable and irreversible. Messiah-the combination of both. When he realizes that, though he can't bring back the dead, he can save those who are alive... ...even at the cost of his own life.

I distinctly remember that one time, kazushi from the chariot arcana asked me to hang out on sunday and he said wanted to buy a gift for his nephew who had injured his leg and couldn't walk. He asked me what would be an ideal gift, and of course the first choice that came up was "Running Shoes".
