One part I find interesting as a storytelling gimmick is the blurred scenes were explained away as the effects of the drug.

@@Karmalu They did basically overdose him. It's also implied that a certain "third party" was meddling as well and blocking the memories. After all, it was Lavenza's lingering power that returned him his blurred memories. You can't forget that the last boss doesn't just spawn out of nowhere, there's clues about his influence throughtout the game.

What's genius about this whole thing is the "pancakes scene" is something (on your first playthough knowing nothing about the story) you supposed to overlook as very trivial, throwaway dialogue at first and then you find it's actually the first clue to the fact that something was off about Akechi In heinsight there were tons of signs that he was suspicious all the way though

Okay, but this is genuinely one of the best setups in any piece of fiction. The fact that they’ve been building this up from the moment Ryuji and Ren discovered the Metaverse is genius, and anytime I want to explain it to someone who hasn’t played the game I have to bite my tongue because it requires explaining the entire game up to that point. It’s seriously impressive.

I know I’m 2 months late for a reply here, but if you think about it, aside from being a funny answer, it could also be a serious one as well. I mean… Think about the hell of a beating the cops gave you at the start of the game… In combination with the drugs… Yeah… Pretty bad. so again… If you think about it… The don’t remember, drugs… Answer could be a pretty good answer to pick. Yes… I’m sure people will get a laugh out of it, but as I said before, it could also be a serious answer.
