Well yes, an understandable treatment to say the least.

While understandable, I do wish Futaba could've talked to Akechi about his mom. The way he says he was a 'cursed child' for her sounds like he blames himself on some level for her death, similar to how Futaba did.

It also makes sense for Ryuji & Yusuke to not be bothered by the prospect of "showing off" their Personas because both of them are incredibly honest and straightforward people, while Akechi was more treacherous and deceitful, so it wouldn't be something Akechi was too keen on showing off to the general public.

@@gamester512 It's more of for Ryuji he would be showing of how awesome and cool he is, for Yusuke he would be letting people see his heart which i think artists sometimes want to convey through their art, what their heart sees and feels when whatever was their muse to paint or draw or create their art was seen.

It's more about trauma response. Remember; Akechi's abuse was at the hands of society itself; the justice system, the attitudes of children out of wedlock Japan still has, the foster care system... a Persona is a manifestation of yourself, very raw and unfiltered. All his life Akechi was basically punished for existing. He wouldn't be eager to, once again, show something honest about himself aka his Persona, and be punished for it. His reaction it the trauma response. Ryuji and Yusuke do not have that kind of trauma. Their trauma is with specific people, not the very society they live in. So to them it's not a big deal.

Regarding your statement about P1 and P2, I simply believe Atlus doesn't care that much. They are good at writing characters and maybe individual title plots. But tying them together is another story. I believe it was said before that every persona game takes place in the same universe, but due to how every title has kind of a theme and the way personas and realities work in each one, it just wouldn't make sense that they are all in the same universe, which is unfortunate. I'd love to have the persona universe better explored and tied in a way that would make sense and not just for fan service purposes. (I prefer to ignore the existence of Persona Q and such completely).

It's thanks to Philemon that the P1 and P2 crew could use multiple personas. Here in P3, P4 and P5, the Wildcards gotten their powers from the antagonists.

Even her Arcana had changed from Chariot to the Fool due to the change of her mental state, still the same in Arena. Though kind of agree on the part that the Wild Cards power initially came from the antagonists, however, Igor and the attendants ensure that they won't stray off to the path of destruction. This duty still remain post main campaign, seen in Arena and Scramble.

What Igor does is grant the tools necessary to perform the action. The ability to perform it lies within. So Akechi likely has the ability. But he wasn't chosen to be the next visitor to the Velvet Room. So that potential remains unfulfilled. With him utilizing it in ways that require more effort from him. A sort of reverse echo of Joker.

Akechi can only have one true persona at a time, but he can completly change his true personality through his psychotic power and give him a totally different persona

Wht does everyone insist he needs the velvet room. Thats only to fuse, sacrifice, and pull from the compendium. You obviously make the deals with shadows outside of the room. So yeah he could capture a shaow for his persona, but they're all too weak compared to his so its not necessary. He can just train his up since he's been at it for years now.

I mean, in the first Persona game, he was of the Devil Arcana, and in Persona 2, he was the Tower Arcana. It's fair enough that they changed him to fit Akechi's Arcana.

Think it is better to say just as the Personas are aspects of the person who is invoking them that the person invoking them are merely tapping into aspects of the Persona. For Akechi he is the Justice side of Loki. The being who brought punishmemt on the Aesir for their multitude of sins. Not to say Loki was righteous but that his actions served the greater good by bringing the gods to justice and begining the age of men. Is that not what Akechi always sought to do?

That's always how I've personally seen his character and what made him interesting. I personally think Robin Hood might have been his initial Persona, representing the part of him that wanted to be a "hero of justice", but from the coloration you can see Akechi's version of a hero was...lacking. Not to mention it was rather showy for a hero who's usually shown as operating from the shadows. The desire for heroism was real, but it wasn't all that was in his heart. There was darkness, and that darkness is Loki, but Loki isn't all bad a shown by the white in it. Depending on the myth, there's some versions where Ragnarok is less of a tragedy and more a result of all of the sins of the Norse Gods biting them in the ass (namely Loki's imprisoned children getting their revenge). In that way, Akechi was going to use all of the sins of his "employers" to crush them and make them pay for what they'd done. Interestingly, while he worked for the Conspiracy, he was never truly a supporter of it (not truly evil), just like with the Phantom Thieves (not truly good) putting him on the edge, just like Loki was between the Aesir and the giants. It's a paradox, which sums up his existence quite well, but it also speaks as to why Akechi feels a sense of anger.

Just imagine a 15 year old Akechi, stumbling into a Palace or Metaverse, scared af because wtf is this, almost dying, not wanting to die because he wants justice for his mother... and Robin Hood comes. But as soon as Shido comes around and tricks him into killing, Loki comes about as justice becomes vengeance.

That makes a lot of sense. I'm not 100% sure if this is true but I read somewhere that in Persona Q2 (the game where he can't use Loki) he doesn't really want to go back to being the traitor and maybe that's partly because during that game he became the hero he wanted to be.

I personally believe that Robin Hood is Loki in another form. While Persona likes to use the word “trickster” in reference to The Fool, I feel like with respect to Loki, it can be seen in the literal aspect. Shapeshifting into a new exterior to fool The Fool.

I see a lot of people suggest this but it doesn’t make sense to me. From a story perspective, Robin Hood is representation of Akechi’s detective prince persona. A version of himself that he uses to deceive the media and the Phantom Thieves. Loki, on the other hand, is his true unfiltered self born from years of strife and hatred of the adults who wronged him. Now that he has nothing to hide anymore, it wouldn’t make sense for him to regress back to using Robin Hood. Besides, Loki is also much stronger lore wise. Gameplay wise, Him using both Personas would be redundant because Robin Hood and Loki have the same skills and trait other than bless and insta-kills.

They're looking like it's a bad thing because it's a result of Akechi literally having two sides and not being honest with himself. Since Akechi hiding his true person is what made him turn evil, it isn't really unjustified. Joker has many Personas because he's the opppsite, he's honest and can make bonds with everyone. It's not comparable to Joker and not hard to understand.

Well, nobody in P4 fought their OWN Shadow. They confronted their shadows, but the closest we got was Kanji punching his shadow in the face.

IIRC it was stated that Akechi is a wildcard (the one chosen for Yaldy's side while Joker was Igor's side of the debate) though I'm not sure if it carried into Royal's lines. Robin Hood represents Akechi's Detective Prince mask while Loki represents the seeker of revenge Black Mask mask. Like it was said, Akechi is two-faced.

Futaba is shows to be more willing to wipe the slate clean in the game. She literally talks about "restarting the game" and "starting over". Probably because she also lost her mom, was blamed for it (like Akechi was by society since he's a bastard) and doing questionable things (remember; Futaba is a hacker. She CREATED Medjed. As while she left when people started using the moniker for evil or selfish gains, she still MADE the moniker and organization originally. She had a hand in allowing those people the means to do evil which she never intended).

Probably didn't have a role for him to fulfill. I know he exists in the SMT universe but I am less knowledgeable about him in the Persona universe.

Thor is a normal Persona here, who can be fused together from other Personas or just successfully negotiate with him and he joins you. No further interaction with Loki (or Odin who is another normal Persona here too).

It could be because loki and Robin are both in the justice arcana. And thus maybe akechi can only weird justice personas the twins cant detect that. Or maybe the fool arcana is the one one that can allow multiple switches to any arcana. If that makes sense.

At this point it's impossible to say definitively. Loki and Robin Hood might just represent the "duality of man" and Akechi's internal contradictions, but Hereward is him reaching equilibrium. That said, Futaba thinks that Akechi has the same power Joker does, but because Akechi couldn't connect with anyone the way Joker could, he was incapable of taking in multiple Personas and was stuck with the two he manifested from himself (thus him only having Justice Arcana Personas, though it probably isn't a coincidence that Loki is usually the Fool Arcana - this may be an indication that something's gone wrong with the Wild Card process). And he certainly didn't have access to the Velvet Room, any Metaverse guides OR the ability to hold-up and bully Personas into joining him all on his lonesome. So really, we'll just have to wait and see what Atlus has to say going forward, because it could go either way.

Yes exactly. I think Loki is meant to be the Fool Arcana. Because Loki is a trickster god himself which suits the Arcana. Keep in mind, that the PT themselves say they even had trouble fighting him together. It took the whole team to beat him meaning he literally is the strongest if compared to every single one if them.
