Whoever came with the names is bloody brilliant. Kasumi = mist (Mist hides the truth) Sumire = violet (Ultraviolet is a color humans can't see but we know it exist).

Thats because Sumire, unlike her big sister, was always introverted and soft spoken. While she was "Kasumi" she was trying to be energetic and cheerful, but as is obvious, something was off there because that wasn't truely her.

@@jakeriese4862 If you pay attention to how she acts, its not even close to perfect. She's limited by the fact shes immitating someone else. So this lead to lack of confidence, the still constant need for someone to make a decision for her (her true self edging through the falsehood), and her being really guarded even though she gives off the impression of a extrovert. Although in this case it was somewhat influenced by the counciler, people in real life when they loose someone so integral to their very being, they will sometimes attempt to become them, making others very confused by their delusional state. One of the ways to help them out of it, is to allow them to "play pretend" as exactly the false version of themselves, and allow their brain to realize that this isn't them at all. That can become the first step into getting better. Typically you don't want to directly show them the tragedy that caused them to change (like what happened to Sumire, stupid dr maruki made the wrong choice there) otherwise you could cause a mental breakdown that their psyche was trying to avoid the first place by giving them a delusion.

I love how Sumire was crushing on joker from the start. She was even stalking him in the palace. You could tell they were a perfect couple, I mean they even have matching outfits. Their relationship seems written into the story - none of the other girls treat him the same. She's canon for sure.

I reaaaally wanna get the ladies man award just so I can have every award in the Thieves Den... but... I can't do it. I just can't. Technically, I could get both the ladies man AND the friend zone award in my next playthrough if I romance everyone EXCEPT Sumire, but my poor heart can't take an entire 60-80 hours of romancing everyone except Sumire. So my next option is doing 9 additional playthroughs, which is a shitload of time, where I romance a new character each playthrough and friendzone the rest. Which, again, would be difficult for me as soon as I realize I have to turn Sumire down, not even mentioning the fact that the only 3 I like are Makoto, Sumire, and Haru. Maybe I'll just forever keep my Thieves Den as it is, as a testament to my loyalty.

you can just save and reload for ladies man i found in coincidence because i'm in relation with hifumi. but sumire's confession is hurt me if i refuse so i created pararel save before i start her rank9 confident and i found that relation ship with girl in thieve den is count as 2/10 while i'm still friendship with sumire

Even though she thinks she’s Kasumi more and more of Sumire comes out as she spends time with Joker even before the cognitive overlay is removed. Even when she thought she was her sister, she wasn’t ever able to completely be like her it seems!

That's me today. I already got into a relationship with Haru previously and today I got to rank 9 with Sumire. Thankfully she took it nice when I said "Let's just he friends". Man, I somewhat regret being in a relationship already, Sumire is the best confidant from the Phantom Thieves for Joker

I felt the same way at first tbh, first playthrough I was excited to see the new character at first but started getting kinda tired of it because it seemed like there wasn't a whole lot of depth to her. I was like "how much time did they spend developing this character?" Things became pretty clear during Laboratory arc though.

I don't know she's pretty much a mary sue in both forms on their own. It's only because she's both that she's interesting. Personally I don't think she's all that great romance wise anyways.

She's dishonest, she's constantly questioning her beliefs, she lacks confidence, she's under the impression that others don't initially care for her, she's quick to give up. Not to mention she initially fails at using her persona properly. She's just as strong as the rest of the cast, has no inherent advantage, I don't see what about her character could be seen as Mary Sue-like.

Sumire wasn’t really “living” for herself, just an pale imitation of someone she loved who was already dead because she couldn’t bear the fact that she inadvertently was responsible for her sister’s death.

My first hardcore JRPG, as well as my first SMT/Persona game, was SMT IV. It is still one of my favorite games today. I have like 250 hours or so. The SMT IV costume DLC for this game is amazing. But the first time I saw Kasumi in the Eastern Kingdom of Mikado samurai garb, my heart melted. Its just adorable lmao, its one of my favorite things in the game.

Ahhh seeing Sumire's side of the story makes me feel more appreciate to who she really is...a kind-hearted, yet naive goofball. But she always feel like she's second place when comparing to Kasumi.
