To be fair Skadi is annoying even on Hard. Which is why I just go for Hama plays against her.

I really like how Merciless works, it goes beyond just battle mechanics, it also makes the ability to fuse Persona's and level up social links much harder, thing is I don't think most people stay on it to see that

As long as enemy has no weakness, but you do and enemy has moves that hit your weakness, merciless is truly the hard.

This reminds me of my first SMT V run on a NORMAL difficulty :) overworld enemies just casually wiped my entire party.

That's why I don't use crit strategies in royal. They capped at 60% making it a gamble everytime unlike in vanilla

this is why i carried my resist phys -> null phys -> repel phys across my entire playthrough from fusion alarms

This isn't as bad when it comes to Madarame phase 1 on merciless mode where it goes Joker than Madarame and he instantly targets my party memebers weakness and it's only after Joker turn he says "You are already dead"

After playing persona 5 original 2 years ago, baton pass in this game is like : HOLY SHIT

If anyone has issues with red enemies, just have the Yakuza guy customize your guns with shock/freeze ailments and they turn into a joke.

Quite interesting for me how in the "only palace" Akechi attends, he's constantly owned by weaknesses and less often tha n not delivers the bane of foes.

one time i was doing p3 personas only and since i didn't take out some weakness to make it a bit challenging Skadi ended up almost killing me bc two of my party actually ran away which was the first time that happen to me

Miss RNG is the only thing that makes the difficulty a pain IMO. Most of the time, shadows never get a turn because you do insane damage. Vanilla P5 was better on Merciless because of the EXP and money cap that was lifted in Royal. I'd be lucky to reach level 10 by the end of the Kamoshida plot in Vanilla P5. I was level 15 in Royal going at the same pace.

Use technicals. If an enemy is immune to ice, freezing won't work. If the enemy is weak to ice, it will be easier to freeze them. Whenever I had to fight Skadi I always try to inflict either shock or mental ailments such as forgot (makajama), Tentarafoo confuse), and then use Haru (you can also use another character) and/or Joker to inflict technical damage on them.

I assume you didn't have any personas that could heal all ailments at once, or were just not wanting to use Morgana that particular moment because OOF that despair is ROUGH

This enemy gave me trauma in mementos with its dispair insta kill. Not sure if it was royal or vanila p5

Played on merciless and it was a cakewalk until Skadi glad someone agrees. Fafnir pretty annoying too.

Damn, i'm a SMT player and P5R was my first Persona game, i just finished a couple days ago in merciless without any guide and i couldn't max 5 confidents at the end of the game, i didn't know that was harder collect shadows but i spent like days in the velvet room with the demon calculator for get the 100% compendium but i just reach only the 95% cause theres some demons that u just can fuse them when u max the social links or unlock them in ng+

Samsara or Hamaon saved me from this battle haha

Tbh Merciless should've removed the player 3X damage multiplier on weakness to make it truly the Hardest difficulty to play in... 95% of the time (Granted you have a little bit of brain) even with the infamous Okumura it's much easier than Normal.. Only Lavenza and the Twins will really give you a hard time (Probably Kamoshida's palace as well in fresh NG) but I guess by that time you will use Izanagi no Brokenbro or YoSHITsune to cheese them anyways so it just evens out..

Statuses are OP. Why don't you run a Sleep persona with Ailment Boost, for example.

I dunno, I have Counseling leveled up, so most of times I just X-Detox myself. To me Challenge difficulty is more of an idiot test, than actual difficulty. It's not impossible, it's not hard, it's annoying most of all

Are there any difficulty mods for this game on Steam that make it about as hard as P3R or P4G? Most of the time modders go overboard.
