Our First Reaction to Swami Tadatmananda on Advaita Vedante. He touches on the meaning of Ishvara, explains Indra's Net, quotes from the Bhagavad Gita and Upanishads. This is truly one of the most thoroughly made videos on Non Duality we have watched so far.
Ishvara is a concept in Hindu philosophy and religion that refers to the supreme reality or the ultimate being. Ishvara is often equated with God or the divine, and is considered to be the creator, sustainer, and destroyer of the universe.
In Hinduism, Ishvara is believed to possess all conceivable qualities and attributes, such as omniscience, omnipotence, and omnipresence. Ishvara is viewed as the source of all existence, and is considered the highest form of consciousness.
Ishvara is also seen as a personal deity by many Hindus, with various forms and names. Devotion and worship of these different forms of Ishvara play a significant role in Hindu religious practices.
Furthermore, Ishvara is not limited to a single religious tradition or sect within Hinduism. Different sects may have their own specific interpretations and conceptualizations of Ishvara, which gives rise to diverse theological perspectives within Hindu philosophy.
Advaita Vedanta is a philosophy rooted in Hinduism, specifically in the teachings of ancient Indian sages like Adi Shankara. It promotes the understanding of non-duality, emphasizing that there is only one ultimate reality or consciousness known as Brahman. According to Advaita Vedanta, all the perceived diversity in the world is an illusion (maya) and the individual self (jiva) is not separate from the ultimate reality. It asserts that the true nature of oneself and the universe is pure consciousness or awareness, and achieving liberation (moksha) requires realizing this truth through self-inquiry and direct experience. The philosophy also discusses concepts like karma, reincarnation, and the role of meditation and spiritual practices in attaining self-realization. Overall, Advaita Vedanta attempts to explain the nature of reality and the highest purpose of human life.

Indian approach to god is very scientific if you think it objectively

Yeah, I'm very convinced by the rational approaches of Advaita Vedanta when it comes to the topic of God, but the loving reverence and devotional traditions (bhakti) are still pretty difficult for me to embrace since I'm a mind-dominant person who won't be convinced by anything that isn't logical and scientific.

Just amazing video. Felt like answers of few of the question I was wondering. But then seeing back, I realize I already knew the answers just needed validation from the scriptures. Many thanks to both of bringing this video to me.

Man has always been curious about the universe and the origin of the universe. And on the land of India, there were thinkers who have tried to understand God for thousands of years. But due to the continuous research done over these thousands of years, six main philosophies have been extracted in Sanatana Dharma. And these six philosophies are Samkhya, Yog, Mimansa, Nyaya, Vaishesik, and Vedanta. Dvaita, Advaita, Vishishta Advaita and Shuddha Advaita are the philosophies of Vedanta. These come under Vedanta, why it comes under Vedanta? Because Vedanta is based on Upanishads, the Acharyas who meditated after reading Upanishads and developed the Philosophies from them, we keep them under Vedanta and these are the purest Philosophies of Indian Sanatan Dharma. The process is that whenever there is a creation, you create something, there are two reasons behind it, one is Instrumental Cause means by whose will the creation is made, like when a potter makes a pot, he is making it with his own will. And the second is Material Cause, which means the pot is made from clay. We want something, we want material. So there are three things creation, material cause, and instrumental cause. Now we will apply this concept in our environment, in our world. So what do we have Creation? We have the universe in the name of creation. This is what we are understanding because this is what we are seeing. Creation is called Universe, also called Achetan, Jad, Physical reality, and Matter. So the first element we have is Creation or the Universe which we can call Physical Reality. What's the other thing? Instrumental Cause. What is the Instrumental cause? By whose desire the universe is created. This means there must be someone who must have desired, we call him God. So in these philosophies, it is called God, meaning just like a potter makes a pot by his own will, similarly, there must be some God by whose will the creation is taking place. So we will understand later what different philosophies have considered God. And now the third remains material cause which we call Atman in these philosophies or sometimes we call it Chetan or Chitt. So the third thing is material cause means the clay from which the pot is made. So, the examples we have taken, we often call it Atman or Jeev. So, these are the three things you must take care of them. One is Creation, the Universe which we can call Matter Or can say physical reality which is presented before us we can call the world. After that, the second is God who is the instrumental cause we also call Nimitt kaaran by whose wish things are happening. And what is the third? Upaadaan kaaran means the material cause that we are seeing as a clay-like the material i.e. in our example is Atman or Jeev. So these are the three things. Now, what kind of relationship is there between these three, what kind of relationship is there? New philosophies emerge from this. If you have understood this, then you will understand all the philosophy.

Wow!! This is ultimate explanation with perfect examples. Always thought how a non-dualist could develop devotion for God. We have seen that even in case of Sri Ramakrishna, Vivekananda and even Adi Shankaracharya. Not sure about Ramana Maharshi though.. Was he devotional about the Brahman ? Not sure

I also realized now that the word 'Ishwara' is not used when presented in English but in India "Ishwara" and "Bhagwan" are the two words that mostly used as synonyms. "Brahman" is very less used in India to which western people are more familiar. Thanks again for bringing this video to me.

Ishwara is used more than Brahman/Parambrahma because most of India is not advaita. Most of India follows Vishishtadvaita. We use Ishwara or Paramatma more.

Lord Shiva is Called Maheshwar (Brahma Vishnu Maheshwar) here the Maheshwar is nothing but Maha + Eshwara = Maheshwara so you can see Eshwara word here, Eshwara means Almighty, So Maha+ Eshwar=Maheshwara means Almighty God of all Almighty Gods yes Absolutely Sanatan Darm Defines Almighty Gods No 1: Adi Shakti/Kali/Durga etc.... (Shakti means The Power, Adi means The Begning) No 2: Vishnu/Narayan/Krishna etc... No 3: Shiva/Rudra/Shankara/Mahadev/Maheshwara/Pashupati/Adi Yogi etc.... The creator Brahma is not considered as Almighty God, because the Brahma is not permanent one, The post of Brahma keep on changes every 100 years of Brahma's time period So here the Lord Shiva is the only god who named as Maheshwara, which means the Almighty God of all Almighty Gods, Mahadev which means God of all Gods Pashu+Pati which means the Creature's Husband here the Creatures means the Nature or the Cosmos or the Life of everything which presencess everywhere so lord Shiva is the Husband of all these * Krishna means the Attractive one * Vishnu means the one who present everywhere * Narayana means the one who sleeps on Water * Kali means the Time So the altimatly Shiva means Shi+va here Shi representative of Soul in everything and Va is the representation of Nature or the Materialistic creation (Adi Shakti) So Shiva means No+Things=Nothing, Nothingness which means nothing but everything is Concessness 🙏🧘‍♂️🙏

Shiva is Brahman in that form; Narayana and Vishu are Brahman in that form; Krishna is Brahman in that form, and so on. Universal formless consciousness combined with energy without attribution and quality-the truth, permanence, purity, free of everything, all-pervading, boundless, all-knowing is Para-brmhamn, which is beyond the comprehension and unknown to human. It can be only experienced. So we need form to concentrate out mind.

I'm sorry something doesn't feel right here, help me..at 17:55 he straight away says Mythological Stories?? we're clearly seeing how Advaita rejects these theories about the attributes and looks on God.. what about all the epics we have today which we learn about, hear about, watch on tv (your reaction to those epics) Cannot believe he said you can attain god without learning about his stories and past times from puranas.. Something to think about 🙃🙂Hare Krishna.. 🙏🙏
