These customized mugs were a joy to make for my good friend Lynn as gifts to members of her family for Christmas. I have many, many times made customized company, or branded mediallion mugs, for businesses or to celebrate special events. But this was the first time using the same concept for families. What a brilliant idea! One that I plan to do for my own family next year and to add to my catalog of personalized pieces that I can offer my other customers.
Medallion stamp reads: Official Hill Clan Member, est. 1971 (the year Lynn and her hubby were married).

I made a mug. I fought to make the top round. I lost. And then a highly talented Pro showed me a simple, easy secret for free. I get so much from you. Thank you.

@@hobblecreekpottery I know both. AlI can say is a misspent youth, and the metric system is so much easier than the imperial. I don't know why America handicapped you all with imperial, metic is all 1, 10,100, 1000 but I guess if you grow up having imperial being drummed into you, you learn it anyway. 💚💜💙

Im in the UK and we do use metric measurements but as I'm an oldie I still prefer to use imperial lbs and oz. Love your mugs and hope you are still recovering well and are not overdoing things.xx

@@hobblecreekpotteryabsolutely! In the beginning of this video you mentioned falling with a ware board & I almost had a heart attack before remembering this was recorded pre-surgery. Whew, had me worried there! 😮I love your videos, I feel like we’re just two potters hanging out & chatting together. Very zen. Sometimes when I’m working in my studio I turn your videos on just to have your voice for company. Thank you for all the videos while you recoup. You are amazing girl! Take care of that new knee! You’ve got this! 🤗💜

Alot of us, in the UK, the older generation still use imperial measurement,, centermeters came in when I was in primary school along with all other European weights and measurements, through school and college I used both and to some point I still do, my daughter, 23, keeps me metric however in pottery class I'm imperial all the way. I'm always interested in how you attach handles, so this was another good video. It's not just you who can trip on fresh air, I do it all the time, it jarrs my new knee and hurts my back so sending healing and empty thoughts to you now and always x😊

Yes! I love the term tripping over empty air. That's it exactly. The newer knee is already so much more stable and it feels part of me while the other never did.

Hi Tif! Thanks for the recommendation/endorsement for the Bleeker Bat System! I bought one and really like it, have to order more bats, though! I had a system years ago made with plywood, 1/4 round moulding and 5 inch tiles. Worked very well, but it got lost in a move 15 years ago. Thanks, also, for todays video, good to see you looking so well and obviously recovering from knee surgery.

Yes! I love the Bleeker system. It's affordable and works extremely well. I did film this video before surgery. Unfortunately, it'll be many more weeks if not months before I'm able to use my kick wheel. 😞

how much time difference from throwing a mug and then attaching a handle
@hobblecreekpottery
@hobblecreekpottery 8 ай бұрын
It really depends on how fast they dry enough. I attach handles at soft leather hard. In the summer here in Utah, where it's so dry and hot, it can be within 20 minutes of throwing. To where this time of year, it's 6 hours to maybe overnight.
