Anne's hairstyle earlier on was old-fashioned, a product of her not being out in society much. Her style is improving as a result of spending time out in the world. It's a visual interpretation of her 'getting her bloom back'.

Poor Anne, surrounded by idiots... I don't know how she can be so patient with Mary and Louisa. But I really like that there are male characters who are not love interests, but are still kind and and become friends with the main female characters. Sometimes modern films and books are a bit lacking in that sense :p

I like how Anne meets Benwick and hopes for him to rally, and that inspires her it seems, she begins to hope to rally for herself. She can get the interest of the mystery man on the beach, and of captain Benwick. She might be able to get over Wentworth after all!

In those days, people often rolled their own cigarettes with paper, tobacco, and a little contraption. In Europe, they were still doing that in the 1950s. The end result is a thinner cigarette which could, today, be mistaken for a joint.

Definitely the prettiest and the calmest. Both Anne and the Captain had such great chemistry. Both nailed the demeanor and the subtle chemistry. Both Anne and Captain were extraordinary and grown up compared to the others. These two actors were so amazing at portraying that they were normal and decent human beings. Not frivolous or too serious. The right combination.

I like her when she's serious; NOT when shes silly!!! I agree; she was TOO silly!! BUT; I do feel bad when she falls and hits her head!!!

It is not the actress that falls...It a prop. Observe when he stands up and he leans....its absolute not a person.

At 7:54, Ann has some salts in her hand??? Was she expecting a need to resuscitate someone? And by the way, where are those four Harvell children? All sent away to boarding school?

R Simon Women usually carried those salts back then! Women were the weak creatures who’d just faint over anything and nothing and everything...type of thing. So the dainty ladies must have their salts!

@@KenyanBunnie there weren't' many medicines.... so women carried things like stickling plaster for little wounds, smelling salts etc....
