I grew up down the street from his house which is called the Fairmount area of Bangor. I still live in the area today. As a kid I would see him on his daily walks by my house with a book in hand reading as he walked. As for what he used to hand out for Halloween I remember King Size Hershey bars. He was and still is a huge part of our community. The Park that you reference across the street from the IT storm drain most all sitting there was built with donations from him and his wife Tabitha. His boys grew up and attended the Bangor schools as well. He coached a lot of youth sport teams his sons played on. He was my brother’s coach on a few teams. He is a very down to earth guy and treated like any other local resident who calls Bangor their home. Hence why the gate stays open. The sculpture in his front yard shown around the 4min mark he just recently had done a little over a year ago. It was carved out of a big old dead ash tree by local chainsaw artist Josh Landry. You don't get much more Mainah than that! 😊 Anyways this was a nicely done video and your Lost Boys filming location brought me here. Love that movie! Now IT is so cool to see you represent my hometown. Cheers to you both!

I used to live a few miles from his house on Casey Key, Sarasota Florida, a long narrow house on the beach in a very secluded part of the Key, so never saw him around town, think he only came down in the winter for a few months at a time. Lucky that you got to see him around and about. Seems like Main is his home. Cant blame him for making Bangor Main his headquarters and home base.

My parents had neighbors from Bangor. Don & Laura Harvey or Hervey. Their son had a trailer dealership. I love that Maine accent. Before moving to Florida, they lived near Stephen King. Sadly, we lost touch with them years ago.

the scenes of the 'pet semetary' were filmed behind my dads aunts house. Stephen King took her family out to dinner as a thank you for letting him user her back yard as a movie set for how ever long they had to use it. I grew up my entire life hearing this story from my family.

I grew up reading Steven King books and seeing the movies. I agree with you 100%, Pet Semetary was one of the scariest besides The Shining from when I was a kid. The death of Gage was even more heartbreaking in the book. If you haven't read the book by now, you should. It's better than the movie.

The books are ALWAYS better. Alot more details. Movies have a time limit. Books dont. I usually buy the books AFTER i see a movie and liked it. The movies will disappoint, every time, if i read the book first. 😅

It's ok, the little kid is fine in real life, but yeah in the movie it's heart breaking and frustrating. You move to the house, trucks flying by all the time, the first thing I would have done is eighter move or at least put up a very strong stone/& brick and tall metal gatted fence all around the house with automatice closeing gates. Then if useing the property across the street the picnics would be WAY FAR DOWN FROM THE BUSY CRAZY TRUCK ROAD. Wouldn't you?!

I've only seen Pet Sematary once in a theater, I passed out when Gage got killed and had to leave and never seen it again, I felt the light headedness when you played the dads scream. Many of his movies have had that effect on me, Cujo, The Shining. Reading his books only gives me freaky dreams which I'm told is a normal thing readers get from his books.

So happy you have both come to where I was born and still live today, 56 years later. It was such a pleasure watching this and several of your other videos. Maine is such a unique and beautiful place. Stephen King was actually a high school English teacher at my high school, Hampden Academy. Hampden is one of the towns next to Bangor. He wrote Carrie when he was a teacher at Hampden. He didn't think the story was up to par, and initially threw it in the trash. His wife, Tabitha, found the manuscript and read it. She urged him to submit the story to a publisher and the rest is history. The Kings are major philanthropists in our community. I live about 5 miles from his house, and love to see all the tourists gathering around to admire his beautiful home. Keep up the good work, and come back to Bangor soon!

It is still around in fact about 2 hours north of Bangor in a town called Princeton, it is on the property of a tow yard and I drove up there to see it and even climbed inside of it as it was unlocked and it has a plaque on the dashboard reading “This Perterbilt was custom made for Stephen King’s Pet Sematary” … it was very cool to see!! The "climbing roots" location is not where you were at. It is on a foot trail called Deer Brook Trail approximately 50 yards above and west of the Deer Brook Bridge carriage road. The tree with the notch in it in the film is still there, and the roots are still there on each side of the trail. You'll KNOW it when you see it. It really hasn't changed much, I wish I could post my pics here 🙂. Easy access for film crew from the carriage road. Hope this helps future seekers.

I found your channel last month and have been watching several of your videos. Your knowledgeable collection of camera angles, film history, and behind-the-scenes information ties everything together. Your narration throughout the video is spot-on, as is your editing. Thank you for taking the time to visit these locations and share them with all of us. You two really do a fantastic job.

I love your enthusiasm in this video! Really cool to see the filming locations of such an iconic movie. This was a super scary movie I saw as an 80’s kid and it has stood the test of time. Thanks for all the work bringing us this video. One of my favorites of you guys for sure!

You guys are such a blessing. I love and appreciate what you guys do and this video specifically really takes the cake for me. I love Stephen King and Pet Sematary is the scariest novel I have ever read and the film was terrifying. I cannot believe how beautiful it is up there. (Btw I didn't know you were from the Burgh, my husband and I are too. Mount Lebanon and Bethel Park specifically) which is cool . Thank you guys for this 🖤😭 You and Jessica are the best.

When i was a Kid, i watched the Movie alone by night. I was round about 10. Back that Day, my Love for Horromovies started. All Parts with Pascow scared me. Until today, i get Goosebumps when Pascow is visiting Louis by night. His Look, his Voice, the Music ...everything is thrilling.

I love Stephen King. This is an awesome video. Christine is my favorite story. But in the Pet Sematary book, Gage was decapitated when the truck hit him and his hat filled up with blood. When Louis disinterred Gage his head was unstable. So there are discrepancies between his novels and the movies. The books give a deeper character analysis, though. Thank you for uploading this video.

Wowwwww…. Dang, thank u for sharing that Deanna! I never read the book, but that’s so interesting to hear about the differences and how much more gruesome that scene was in the novel.. wow. I’ll have to read it sometime for sure. Thank you! 🖤

Gage is *not* decapitated by the truck, or at all, in the book. The part of the novel in which Louis digs up Gage’s body, there is mold on Gage’s head. Louis, initially, thinks his head is missing, as it is basically camouflaged.

Thank you for sharing Stephen King's home! I'm thrilled to see it. I would have loved if he came out to see you! Excellent editing! I forgot Fred Gwynn (Herman Munster) was in the movie. My all time favorite movie/book is The Stand. The scariest was Salems' Lot and It (the original).

If I had to guess, I would say its at 27:20 that you are hitting the area they actually used in the movie, and yes it looks like stairs were carved in. It seems like the right elevation.

I read this book back in 1988. I was at college, right before Christmas brea. Scared the crap outta me. I came home, and my grandma passed. Anyway, this book scared me so bad, it's the reason I'm going to be creamated.

The rock piles at 35:41 are from blueberry harvesting. On both sides of the path you walked up are wild blueberry barrens. Workers and field owners chuck the rocks into piles out of their way. The carved tree on Stephen’s property has many features that relate to his books. First time to your channel, well done.

I remember loving this movie as a kid (a strange one for a kid to love! 😂) but never saw Gages death scene until I was in my early 20’s. My parents always made me cover my eyes as they would fast forward through it. Seeing it for the first time as an adult absolutely gutted me. I have a hard time watching the movie now as an adult!
