This is one video to show those "shearing is abuse" people. Just look how casual the sheep walks off like "I go grab some tea now"

I've never seen any negative comments about Shearing...anyone that complains, obviously didn't ask the sheep how much better they feel without all that weight...not to mention how hot those coats are😉! I LOVE watching these videos ❣️
@LadyLithias10 ай бұрын
@@leighanncronin6905 I've seen some really negative comments about shearing. Someone once said to me "Have you ever seen anyone shear a sheep? The shearers HATE the sheep and are very abusive to them." Of course you can't argue with someone who is blind to truth. Nobody would continue to hire any shearer who didn't treat the animals right. And yeah, I have seen a BAD example of shearing. A demo of shearing that left the animal quite bloody, but it had 2 years of Merino growth on it. My shearer could compete with these shearers on this video, but of course they don't because we're in a different state. If I lived within their range, I'd want them to come shear my flock of pet sheep. (some people have dogs. I have sheep)

That was a large sheep! I found the video so relaxing, your rhythmic strokes with the clippers and the steady sound of them emphasized how you make what could be a stressful situation for the sheep as relaxing and calm as possible. Even when the sheep wiggles a bit you just seem to soothe it somehow as you adjust the positioning. You are a fine example of calm and kind efficiency without sacrificing the beautiful smooth shear or the time it takes. ❤ 🐑

Unfortunately that brown will be blended into the product. That sun bleaching is impossible to get rid off once on. An alternative to protecting it would be to coat the sheep. That’s a boat load of work so only done by those who are obsessed with high quality. Bummer is the sun can STILL bleach black though it!

@vanzikky10 ай бұрын
From what I've seen in the shearing sheds, it depends a lot on the handler. With some shearers the sheep lie down almost voluntarily, with others they kick up a fuss every time! Exceptions to the rule of course.

So I’m sure you won’t read this BUT hopefully someone who actually knows and not just assuming can tell me, do these animals LIKE getting shorn, are the just indifferent to it or do they NOT like it? Or does it just depend on the animal? Sometimes I watch you and they literally just lay there almost like they actually like it, but then again are they just used to it and know it’s going to happen whether they fight it or not?? Lol just wondering, maybe do a video explaining it cuz I know absolutely nothing about it until I started watching your vids a few weeks ago
@dorybixby98912 ай бұрын
It really depends on the animal and the shearer. I'm no shearer myself (I've tried and failed many times), but I was raised around sheep and get a front row seat in person as Shearer's assistant often. In my opinion the only things the sheep don't like about the process are being in a weird position and the strange sound of the shears. Katie talks about shifting them to make them more comfortable when they fuss in some of her other videos, and usually they only start to fuss if they feel like they're going to fall. A calm and confident shearer like Katie can keep them fairly relaxed through the whole process so that it's a neutral to good experience for the animal. Often it seems like their only gripe with haircut day is 'why doesn't anyone recognize me?!'
