It was ten years ago this year where Donna Summer sadly died. She was one of the American legends working with Stock/Aitken/Waterman during 1989

Donna Summer was a very religious person... Yes, she was. For her, that meant she was to love everyone and judge no one. It meant that no one is better than anyone else, but we are all the same in the eyes of God. It meant to be compassionate and kind and to help others and to share your talents. She was very private, but she was also very open when she felt it was necessary or if she thought sharing something very private would help whomever she was talking to. She was more interested in hearing about how you were doing rather than talk about herself. She was an amazing mother and her children were raised with so much love, but they also learned the value of work (they had to earn money for Christmas by doing chores when they were little; when they were older they sometimes went on tour with her and worked). When she met friends or even fans, she directed her focus to that person alone, and made them feel like they were the only person in the room for those moments- her husband is the same way. Donna and her sisters are/were hilariously funny. Donna liked doing different voices and impressions, and making silly faces; but she did not appreciate dirty jokes or jokes that were negative about another person. The thing that hurts the most about her loss is that I will never get to hear her voice LIVE again. She sang a song to me in the early 1990's with no one else in the room... If I close my eyes and listen carefully, I can still hear her singing it. (the song was Dreams by Fleetwood Mac/Stevie Nicks). I'm sad for those who never got to hear her sing live and in person- recordings don't even come close to capturing the depth of her voice or how powerful her voice was. I learned a lot from her over the years, and treasure the gifts and cards-- mostly I learned that it is much better to be kind and compassionate, and that you should never gossip negative things about others; and that no matter what religion, national origin, color of skin, sexual identity, God loves you unconditionally.

@Quincy Breed I will agree with you about people taking responsibility. However, Donna Summer's career spans some forty years. I think its possible for a person to evolve legitimately.

She had a beautiful soul and a beautiful heart. She was a loving person, she didn't judge others, she loved everyone, but if you could make her laugh or if you could sing then she appreciated you even more. Yes, she was religious, which meant to her that all of us are the same-- all of us fall short of perfection, but we are commanded to love one another and let God do the judging. She had a way of making you feel like you were the most important person at that moment, she was very loving and compassionate, and had great empathy for others. She cared so much, was so moved by people's pain that she could sometimes feel that pain. And, she had a gay, Jewish attorney for decades from the 70's and throughout the rest of her career.

In m opinion, disco has evolved and is still present. It just has been renamed with various titles and/or subgenres of dance itself.

A good interesting feature. Donna Summer's first hit was not "Love To Love You Baby"; it was "The Hostage." Rest In Peace to her.

Her first U.S. & worldwide hit was Love To Love You Baby. The Hostage was a regional hit in Europe (Netherlands, Belgium).

@@rgrndu Yes, and in Spain as well. I was aware of those details, thanks. The host did not specify location; therefore viewers were led to believe the host meant worldwide. The host calling it her first hit was like a kind of racism, acting like The Netherlands, Belgium and Spain do not exist. All the host needed to do was add something like “UK / US” or “English speaking countries.” If the host meant well but just did not do enough research, that seems hardly excusable regarding a memorial feature for a famous talent.

@@curtismichael4703 it’s pretty much verified Atlantic city concert in 1983 she made jokes about aids and gay people. This is verified by reporters who attended concert. She was clumsily trying to make light hearted jokes and teasing but she crossed line ie god made Adam and Eve not Adam and Steve. And also she said aids was gods punishment. She had converted to being born again and felt compelled to preach. She should have kept her mouth fucking shut her sad comments All verified by village voice and other papers it’s true. It was different times in 1983 but gay community never forgave. She really fucked up and she should have known better. Her comments are unforgivable

@@opticscolossalandepicvideo4879 The reporters never wrote about it in their columns? Except the Villiage Voice which I will try to find. It seems that if she actually made such comments and all these people were present (especially reporters) it shouldn't be so difficult to find it.

@@opticscolossalandepicvideo4879 I just read the articles and interview. I have to tell you that I don't believe she made those statements. She said that she made reference to aids being like herpes. This was at the beginning of the epidemic before they really got a handle on things. Those other statements she says that she didn't say them and I believe her. She was surrounded by gay men in her life, especially professionally. I don't see that being the case if in fact for someone who would make such comments. I don't even see where in her concert a transition would occur where statements like that might be said.
