I am an old fart who, while much younger, got to see him perform this show in person. The entire show was an emotional rollercoaster! "Come Talk to Me," which you probably already know, was about a rough patch he had with one of his daughters and his attempts to get her to stop being angry at him and just talk to him. It's a wonderful song and your reaction to it brought back all the old emotions. After all these years, I thought I was the only one who got a punch in the soul by the power of this performance!

I was lucky enough to see him in Orlando on this tour, the last stop on the US Tour, it was like going to church.

Saw him on pretty much every tour .. this was a special show. Saw it at Madison Square Garden. Magical!!

Yup, this song is about his daughter Melanie and the period she wasn't getting along with Peter. She later became his backup singer for many tours after this. Peter and Melanie sung this song together in 2005, on the last leg of the Growing Up tour, it's on the Still Growing Up dvd. This entire concert, from first note, to last, will thrill you. The female singer, is Paula Cole, who had a hit with ( where have all the cowboys gone) which I’d love to see you react to.

I do love this version of the song, but I think I prefer the Growing Up Live version. As others here in the comments have said, he wrote this song for his daughter who was angry at him after he divorced her mom. His daughter sings with him on that tour, making it more powerful. They sing to each other while reaching out their hands, and in the end, they embrace.

I was lucky enough to see this tour in ..'94, was it? I was blown away. Gabriel is an amazing musician and performer. I left having seen that and being unsure if I ever needed to see another concert for the rest of my life.

I love love love how you get emotional about this! I grew up listening to Peter Gabriel and Genesis, so to see younger people appreciate his music is exciting to me, and i hope music like his and others from this time era still is important to people out there.

i am lucky enough to have seen Peter Gabriel twice . This concert and on a double bill with David Bowie .Both were mesmerising

The guitar was a Steinberger. It was revolutionary in it's day because it had no headstock (the end that usually had the tuning pegs on it) and it rarely went out of tune because of it's design. i saw this concert live, and it was super emotional. Everything about it was 10/10, music, musicianship, set, sound, choreography, lighting, crowd reactions, etc. and there are also a few funny parts, like when Tony Levin pops back up (spoiler alert) :D. If you can get the DVD of this show you'll love it.

Oh Gracie you are a beautiful soul and it's a pleasure watching you watch the best. Peter Gabriel is my hero and his duet singer Paula Cole is also a big favourite of mine. This was the first song at a concert that only went up, up and up from there. I'm not sure wich instrument you were asking about but Tony Levin, the tall guy in black, plays an electric double bass and David Rhodes plays a Steinberger electric guitar - just a regular electirc guiatr with an uusual shape really.

was at this gig. my friends girlfriend feinted from the strobes just at the phone ☎️ box - was expecting Sineid ( rumours ) Missed half the concert !! true story.

@@GracieReacts yes but thanks to you this was the first time I seen the whole concert. The lady in Q just fainted in my arms my cousin ( her husband of 2yrs) was panicky. I just called the medical people who were cool. missed 45mins. We went to future gigs but always made sure she was protected. never seen anybody pass out despite the warnings before or since. weird. and thing was Peter Gabriel was a mate of my cousin ( same school) ad. we got great tickets plus Sinaead O’Connor who was ( rumoured ) dating PG ( shagging for a little while only comprendo ) we supposed to meet back stage. anyway history now. love your site. brought me back memories i never knew I had. thanks xx

My Uncle was a hit maker @ love to see you react to his HIT Eighteen with a Bullet. If you do can give you sooooo much else. Eel Pie Island !!! check that out -was THE place in the 60s to hang out. kinda free state in London - no rules private island in London. So many stories.

Peter can singlehandedly be credited for ending Apartheid in South Africa by over a decade. He really does deserve that much credit for the work he did internationally to bring an end to that horrific practice. His music has reflected his mission since the late 1970's.
