2 жыл бұрынHere with "Ceremony" performed by Peter Hook & The Light at their "So This Is Permanent" Ian Curtis tribute concert in May 2015 that saw the band perform every Joy Division track ever written in Ian’s local church.
In 2022, The Light will tour North America in August and September followed by dates in Belgium & the Netherlands in late September before visiting Ireland, Australia and New Zealand in November.

I had forgotten how good a song 'Ceremony' is - the bridge between Joy Division and New Order. The musicianship and sound quality here are excellent. Great video, cheers.

I know. I do own a copy of 'Still'. I am doing this from memory - Side 3 track 1, live version. New Order's first single as well but....

its a JD song but its better as the beginning of new order. in a way it wasnt quite finished- i think it was still a demo when ian died. new order play it as kids who just lost their singer- theres pain, fear, anger, sadness, and ultimately hope in this beautiful song. its seminal. its what they used to get over into the next stage i think. it still gets to hooky you can tell.

What this song does and makes me feel is truly unique. Hope and despair all at the same time...but there is no conflict between the two, genuine harmony.

This song is my second favorite New Order song of all time! It's got so much raw emotional power that overwhelms me. I like Hooky's singing....he emulated Ian's original voice when JD put this together prior to New Order.

For a Child of The 70s/80s I love how Peter & TL have made this a reality over the last decade and I’m very proud to be in double figures of PH & TL gigs. The 3 day Hebden Bridge residency back in 2014 saw me live the dream.

Oh, wow. Just saw this. One of my all-time favorite songs. I now want to see the whole concert. Love Hooky, and his bass playing. The guitarist is WAY more engaging than Bernard Sumner is.

@@davidcowan4942 I am confused and getting old so I understand ;) It was indeed a New Order single per say however it was first prepared when Ian was still alive. There was no official recordings of it...just a few times of them performing the song. Truly a masterpiece...New Order did a great job in their 'version'

@@VitoC. Yes. Ian wrote the lyrics when in hospital after his first alleged suicide attempt. The members of New Order never realised that the song may actually be about the frame of his mind.
