Zeihan is the most entertaining geopolitical speaker on the scene today. It's only when you have expertise in any area he talks about, to realize he's an egotistically blinded, biased, superficial thinker, who proposes overly simplistic solutions to problems he's intellectually & emotionally incapable of understanding. Nevertheless, his over confident monologue is a starting point where mature, capable people can take over & find real solutions.

The idea that the Chinese can't build chips seems unlikely to me. Seems more likely the us will struggle to find enough skilled scientists for the new fabs, given how poor education has become in most of the west. Us will most likely have to import people from Asia

He also predicted the deglobalisation trend, the US becoming more inwardly focused, the decline of the Chinese economy, the shale oil boom leading to less US interest in and demand for Middle Eastern oil, and plenty more. He's written five books, so his predictions date back a fair way. Ian Bremer also agrees with about 90% of Peter's positions and geopolitical strategists don't get much more famous than Bremer.

China is automating a lot of factories, even defense productions. They use 14 minutes to assemble an electric vehicle. They have recently introduced defense production by robots, like with the EV industry. So China is mitigating the demographic challenge by using robots and tech to substitute human workers.

His method is based on geography, demographics, and sourcing specialists in a dizzying variety of fields. Specialists often can't see the forest for the trees. Zeihan is a Generalist so he ties specialist's analysis together and build a model of the wider world.

😮The audience isnt shy. But most people dont understand...or recall...exactly how vicious and far reaching a trade war can be. Or historically how easily it can lead to a shooting war. China for example can easily counter by seizing or attempting to seize Taiwan not only for nationalistic reasons and strategic reasons but for its semi cinductor equipment and manufacturing capability and trained personnel. This of course would REALLY impact the US. Smartest thing to do would be pack the whole thing up and move it to Texas along with granting citizenship to the Taiwanese semi conductof workers who face it would make better immigrants than the human debris flooding across the border. Or accelerate duplicating the facilities in the US training technical workers etc.. .And when the Chinese grab fo Taiwan a plan for the facilities making semiconductors to disappear in a massive fireball. And while you re at it move the Dutch chip tech to the Uzs also...unless you plan to stop Russia in Ukraine. Which the West appears incapable of doing. As for other raw materials and manufactured product you ve got various scenarios of begger thy neighbor. If the West for example wanted to really hinder Russia and Chinas progress they d give Ukraine the intel and weaponry to hit the Russian refining and crude capacity . Of course the zuS needs to begin manufacturing everything that it has relied on China for especially primsry metals ship building etc. Now you begin to reach the point when you have to protect your fledgling industries with tariffs. And counter tariffs. Which means that you no longer have any reason NOT to go to war for one reason or another.

Bruh... this isn't 2015 anymore, half the country knows about blockchain technology and the "disruptive power" it holds. And he's been a crypto hater for a decade at this point. Don't act like he's just some country bumpkin who's never heard of it, he has specific reasons why he doesn't look very positively on it

What Power does it hold? So far not much to show but mystery valuations on the exchanges. It's speculative. Like the tulip bubble. Worked fine for some time until it didn't.
