East Auckland Gems - Delicious Donuts, Mangemangeroa + Waitawa Regional Park, NEW ZEALAND

2 жыл бұрынEast Auckland holds some great hidden gems. It's a fantastic mix of urban and rural where you don't need to travel very far for an escape to beautiful nature or some amazing food too.
We took advantage of a warm, sunny winter's day in Auckland and kick started our morning with doughnuts! Mamas Donuts has a few locations across NZ with two in Auckland. We visited their Botany shop. Wonderful friendly staff and amazing fresh, handmade donuts.

Mangemangeroa Reserve has a few different walks and entry-ways. If you need a car park, Google Maps address of 108 Somerville Road will make you miss it, so be on the lookout for the white barn on Somerville Road to turn into for parking and the main Mangemangeroa Valley Walkway entrance.
TIP: If you're keen to see the estuary or extend your walk from Shelly Park Beach to Cockle Bay, you should check tide-times beforehand.
Waitawa Regional Park is on the south-eastern coast of Auckland out towards Clevedon (a rural town). It has beautiful views of the Hauraki Gulf as well as walking and mountain biking tracks, a wharf and Mataitai Bay Beach.

Thanks for the video! I spent a year in NZ, and most of the time was based out of East Auckland. This brought back good memories. I love how unique the countryside is around the city.

starting the video with some delicious donuts! Probably we'll order some donuts right after this for a nice yummy snack lol. Love the blue skies and fluffy clouds, greeneries, miss the outdoor basically lol! such a peaceful lake, surprised to see boats there too. Such a lovely sight. Awwwwh that beautiful blue sea view! From the wharf it has such incredible view, I could chill here all day!

We really love the clouds and sky in NZ too 🙂 whenever we're traveling and then return to NZ it's probably the thing that sticks out noticeably.. it's really blue.. and clouds really white.. no pollution or fogginess to the sky. You guys really lives in the most liveable city in the world in 2021! (Melbourne placed 9th this year 😅) Must be nice to see many beautiful sceneries in the suburbs of Auckland. Thanks for sharing with all of us 👍🏻 Peter’s explanation about East Auckland bush is very convincing! Wish you guys can bottle it up and send it over here so we can smell it too 😄

I grew up in Central West Auckland, and the rugged West Auckland beaches and bush walks were my playground when I was younger, however, the South Eastern Bays are pretty much unexplored by me. I will take my wife to Waitawa Regional Park tomorrow. Cheers

Fresh cut grass and sea mist? I'm in😁! 🍩🍩🍩 looked so soft and yummy 😋. Was super nice of them to bring out the cinnamon ones (were you guys already all sugared out? I guess it's a weird spot because it's really nice, but then you kinda feel like you have to eat them right there when they'd be super yummy after a short sugar break or after a hike... I dunno, maybe it's my Asian 🧠). Very serene spots today... good way to spend my Sunday afternoon day dreaming about looking for creatures along an empty NZ beach😁. Hahahaha I was going to buy another donut anyway, my sugar tolerance is pretty high probably cause sometimes I wake up and down 2 rows of whittikas chocolate 🍫 😂😂 Yen on the other hand takes way less sugar so she was on a bit of a rush for a few hours. Lucky me I got to eat a bit of her glazed and cinnamon too 🤤🤤🤤 We went back a week after to get a pack of 6 to bring to our friends place for an after hotpot feed 👍😁

Very enjoyable, Howick is a great suburb (like a separate village) for combining the amenities of a city with the pleasures of waterfront, countryside and bush. Must visit Waitawa regional park soon. Apparently it was formerly closed to public access as the jetty was used as a place to unload explosives.

💥💥💥 that's quite the fact 😅 you're right though east Auckland has a lot to offer. For us it was a case of sometimes you live somewhere too long you forget to look in your own back yard for great sights.

Donuts or cookies for breakfast is the most common thing to eat in Spain lol It looks so soft and comfy, like I wanna sleep in the donut hahaha. Cinnamon donuts are underrated, they are amazing. That smells must be awesome, love just cut grass, reminds me of my childhood. Green is always good lol What a wonderful place and the sun setting gives such an amazing look. That is a whole villa, it should be a retreat for our YT family lol

😁 that's our local region, it's funny cause just down the road from the first park are the suburbs but then you drive out a lil more and you get rolling farm land as far as the eye can see 👀

Tom Bromfield who also comments and follows the channel mentioned that when he went on the weekend it was a lot busier. No plans to stop for the next few years so you're good there 😁

Wow looks like you got Waitawa to yourselves! I chanced upon there after seeing your Duder vid, and it was much busier (it was a Sunday though). There was lots of families around , kids playing on the beach and people fishing off the wharf. Loved the views too! Think you could see all the way to coromandel. I too wondered about the story of that remote house on the island. I just looked up when I went - Sept last year. Time flies!

have you guys tried mochi donut before? here in sydney its going crazy :) - one of my classic favourite is cinnamon donuts :) - haha on a summers days finely cut grass XD and what was the other one you said?

Just why,why,why ??? You really had to start off with eating Donuts didn't you ? Now I gotta shoot off to Krispy Kreem or Dunkin Donuts and get my fix. Awesome video though,and just love hearing Guustavv playing in the background again.

@@PeterandYen TBH,it's too close a call between Dunkin Donuts and Krispy Kreem,as there are 2 outlets in close vicinity to home so its usually a confusing exercise to get donuts,but I guess Dunkin Donuts as they've been around longer.But the place you guys went to looked great

@@PeterandYen yep,Dunkin Donuts it is,the wait at Krispy Kreem is annoying,so thats put them into second place. I must try those Boston cream donuts though,not quite sure which ones those are,but if you recommend them,that's good enough
