The FED knows. They aren't committed to attacking inflation. They are going to continue to inflate, stocks and commodities will continue to go up with everything else. You can't just sit on cash waiting for a crash, get your money working for you, start buying in slowly and then gradually increase the pace of buying as the prices continue to drop.

If the unemployment rate is able to remain steady while the Fed hikes so aggressively and inflation falls back to target, a soft landing might be on the table

Wow. I am blown away by this presentation. I was an insecure 49 year old on SS in January 2018 when I started buying Bitcoin/crypto. Everyone though I was irrational. Most still do. Hello, how do you make such amount? I'm a born christian but sometimes I feel so down 🤦 of myself because of low finance but I still believe in God.

I have a coworker who is closing on a new house soon. She had to buy down points just to be at a 6.5%. I bought my second house in 2018 for 4.75% on a 30 year fixed and refinanced during COVID down to a 3% at 20 year fixed.

With both presidential candidates working directly for the central banks nothing is going to change for the next eight years. If the fed cuts rates we are all screwed.

The FED lowered its inflation objective to less than 2% in 2012. They changed the target to a long-term average of 2% inflation. Because long-term interest rates are set at inflation plus a profit margin, the implication is lower interest rates. I consider the current rising interest rate to be a very serious issue it will cause more investors to withdraw from the market. But then despite the severe bear market, I am aware of certain investors that continue to earn over $365,000. Wish I could accomplish that.

I've struggled trying to understand the Fed's discussion for dropping the rates. I think they will do it for political reasons. And inflation will blast off. They know it, but they also know it will happen after the election.

Peter is actually right. If the FED really wants to bring down inflation as soon as possible they should have increased rates but since we have factors in the economy that are hurting right now aside they will eventually cut rates to sacrifice inflation

Thank God Peter hasn’t gotten cancelled. Let’s face it and it is really a shame that it is common nowadays for free thinkers to get canceled. Inflation can’t be beaten as long as we have CREDIT CARDS 💳. Credit cards are the real culprit.

Reason why the Fed stopped raising rates too early was because the economy cannot sustain the proper level of rate hikes to quell inflation. The current Fed cannot do what Volker did in the 80's to squash inflation. The sheer amount of debt across the entire system is so poisonous and fatal it's hidden and not addressed.

PS is correct about his definition of Inflation. A rise in price was NOT the original definition, and that definition does not work if you're actually trying to understand the economy and how things work. Price is DISCOVERED, and the way prices rise and fall depends on multiple factors, and it's not governed by wishful-thinking targets of the FED or the greed of businesses. Inflating the money supply IS the root of the problem, but the unsaid TITPB (something floating in the punchbowl) is the race to the bottom in the value (i.e. there IS no stable value) of the currency. The abandonment of ANY tangible definition to the dollar since Nixon pulled US off the gold standard and closed the window and the growth of the money supply have been hand in glove, and so the debt has grown catastrophically in the last +50 years. Debt finance has allowed the Federal government to expand its size, reach, and dominance in every aspect of society, and monetary inflation has rotted out our industry, sky-rocketed housing, created hordes of paper billionaires and millions of millionaires while creating a widening wealth gap, made the business government cabal ever more intrusive and inefficient, and WILL end badly.
