She was positively giddy sharing this recipe! Her lighthearted little giggles are so endearing I had to watch this twice.

When she made the piping bag out of paper, I had a flashback to my 5 year old self going with my mom to her cake decorating class. The teacher showed how to do the same thing.

19:41 No editing software existed back then, so when a mistake was made, Julia just had to keep going! lol

Editing techniques were developed practically so it doesn't matter that there was no software available. Do you think other tv shows or movies just didn't bother editing because they didn't have software? These episodes were filmed live to tape and several were made in a short amount of time for public television so the production didn't have a massive budget. She just had to roll with it.

This is absolutely bonkers! Pulling off very finicky fondant from scratch and dipping petit fours in this amount of time ...had my brow sweating.

Does anyone know why the French seem to only use apricot glaze? Why no other fruits?

The modern day fondants I see on the food network looks kind of gross to me. They always roll it out in sheets. It's like a clay that pressed out into sheets. Looks flavorless, and unappealing to me. This looks very good though!
@Consrignrant
@Consrignrant 9 ай бұрын
@howardsternssmicrophone9332 Actually, they're not "modern day fondants". There are 2 types of fondant. Rolled and poured. *Rolled is also called pettinice. It has nothing to do with whether it's modern or not.

@@rah62 Actually, I know that. I made a mistake. Thanks for pointing that out. It's always funny how people think they're being clever by pointing out a spelling error. You're not. Did you notice how it's you're and not your? Imbecile.

Its a far cry from what they call Fondant & is available in stores these days!!! You can buy it at a bulk food store and likely more places & its rolled with ordinary or carved rolling pins or machines similar to pasta rollers. That fake mess is best peeled off any cake it covers!!! The modern Fondant is about as close to real as a Cheese slice wrapped in single slices (to avoid using a brand name) is to real cheddar or Swiss etc. 😂😂😂

Other than taste, consistency & the way its used oh I'm sure its called fondant & made from sugar. That orange singles slice in cellophane is still cheese too by name & being made from milk & rennet.
