Taft Hobby Dornier DO-27 1600mm / 63" Electric RC Plane PNP Version Military
The Dornier DO 27 was originally designed in Spain in 1955. It seated 4-6 people and is a single engine STOL light utility craft. It has a classic high wing, with fixed landing gear and is a tail-dragger. The plane had a wide, comfortable cabin, great visibility and excellent short field performance. Probably the most interesting color scheme for planes in this class was the Zebra Scheme used in Africa. A total of 628 DO-27's were built.
Now, thanks to Taft Hobby Ltd., your own DO-27 can be in the air in less than 1/2 hour. Simply bolt it together, drop in your receiver and battery and it is ready to go. And although it wasn't designed to be a trainer plane, it is so easy to fly that it makes a great first aileron plane. On top of the ailerons, you will love how the flaps increase the lift for short field take offs and landings. The only big decision you need to make now is which trim scheme?
Specifications:
Wingspan: 1600mm / 63"
Length: 1234mm / 49"
Wing Area 36 sq. dm. / 558 sq. in.
Flying Weight: 2600g / 92 oz. = 5-3/4lbs.
Radio System: 5CH
Servos 7pcs 9 gram servo (included)
Prop 13x6
Motor Brushless 4250 KV700 (included)
ESC:50A (included)
Battery: 4s (14.8V) 3000-5000mah, 25C+ Li-Po

Well done to Pilot Robert for getting this Dornier down in one piece! It certainly looks sexi enough but it's got too many faults. The battery arrangement is a design flaw. I'm glad you didn't crash this! Great flight, landing and filming. Big salute from London! 🌟👍

That's so cool looking!! Yep hot here too. 49c here today. Climate change is here unfortunately. Storms are worse, heat is worse. Its crazy. Love the looks of this plane. Your method of gradually adding power on take off works great... Not really much of a floater like I thought it might be.

Great to see another video from my favorite RC brother duo! I like this WWII era plane. I love the color scheme, especially the orange wing tips, nose cowl, and tail rudder. With that said, the plane flies weird for a high wing design. Not sure about this one.

Hello Petrincic Bros! You happen to have 2 UFOs on your video. The first from (6.58) and the second from (7.00 - 7.17). Damn fast from right to left! And a beautiful model, the DO-27. Greetings from Lübeck Thomas

I had the same model, and had the same results on my maiden flight. Glad to see it wasn't just me. I really didn't like the way this model flew. I also thought the landing gear legs were a bit weak for a hard surface runway. I only put a few flights on it, and gave it to a fellow club member. Greeting from SoCal.

Good job with a bad design. You are to be commended! Usually tail heavy planes only fly once. However, if you have the time and inclination to experiment, you can make this fly better. A little nose weight, some down elevator mixing with the flaps, turn off the motor brake, and create some aileron, rudder & elevator mixing for the turns, and you can have a plane that isn't a challenge to fly. Whatever you decide to do, I wish you luck. And again: Good job and keep the videos coming when you can.

Blaz could fill the mole holes with his load and not go home. This was one terrific flight and wido. I thought maybe you'd lost it when you deployed the flaps. Nice flying over all and we too had a heat index yesterday of 109F. Appreciate the early morning surprise. Always a treat with the Brothers and coffee. Russ NC/USA

I have one of these planes sitting in my basement. I was never able to get it to fly properly. Very similar issues to what you guys had. Flew like it was tail heavy, hard to coordinate turns. I tried putting weight in nose and angling the motor for more right and down thrust. Nothing helped. The "quick release" clips on wings broke and are difficult to repair. I gave up on it after a bunch of attempted fixes and just decided it was not a very good model although it looks great. You guys got a lot further than I did so great job!

Nice work getting it down. Definitely tail heavy, the tail shouldn't hang down like that when doing aileron turn, and when you used the rudder on the turns to lift the tail the tail whipped around. Add a 50-100g pilot maybe? FYI, The real Dornier DO 27 was originally designed in Spain. Where the other Germans went.

I put the flaps on the transmitter's flight modes and enable F-mode trim so that I can trim the elevator in each position of the flaps. You can compensate for the adverse yaw by mixing aileron into rudder. But, I would move the aileron horns further back from the hinge line and make longer pushrods so that the ailerons will center correctly with the horns moved back.
@AL-RCjunkie
@AL-RCjunkie Ай бұрын
It's a beautiful bird! Maybe she needs a littke more rudder in turns. And a littke more elevator comp for the flaps would help the slow flight. Ill sometimes set my Ail to Rudder mix on my flaps switch, to increase the rudder for each flap setting. 👍
