"Tell me if I m wrong" As per my calculation with present fuel price of petrol 73 rs and diesel 70 rs. Ciaz before GST (and other cars without hybrid) difference of any model is around 1,20,000/-. Petrol ciaz give avg mileage highway + city 14.5 kmpl Diesel ciaz give avg mileage highway + city 22 kmpl , In both the case (-5 kmpl in ARAI mileage). Petrol 73/14.5 = 5.0344 rs Diesel 70/22 = 3.1818 rs Difference is only 1.85 rs saving per km in Diesel car. After 60,000 to 65,000 kilometer cost has been recovered. If anybody runs 1000 km per month (12,000 km PER YEAR) then after 5 years all the cost will be recovered. And at the time of resale, half the price of difference at the time of purchase 1,20,000/2 = 60,000/- can easily be obtained. " END " If any body compare ciaz petrol + CNG car vs Diesel. And by including cng maintanence after some km in cng + drastically reduction in resale value + CNG kit cost; "END" ✓✓✓°°°°°CONCLUSION°°°°°°✓✓✓ Diesel returns best value for money even after 1000 kM per month running. (Condition to 1,20,000 prece diff. in Petrol & Diesel varient) otherwise "Not at All" * If maintanence cost included then cost recovery delayed by 3 to 6 months only

Dear you are correct...but go through my point of view....as below I own ciaz diesel and my brother own ciaz petrol. Diesel car company claimed arai milage 28 kmpl, while petrol car arai mileage 20 kmpl. On an average including all condition with full use of ac, diesel car gives 20 kmpl (28-8) while at the same point of time petrol car (20-8) = 12 kmpl. RS/km for diesel car 73/20 = 3.65 rs RS/km for petrol car 76/12 = 6.33 rs Now, 6.33 - 3.65 = 2.7 factor. Price difference between petrol and Diesel car 1,20,000/- So decide it by 2.7, ie (120000/2.7) = 44,444 kilometer. It can easily cover in 3 YEARS only. With average 14000 kilometer running per year. So within 3 to 3.5 Year cost can easily recovered, so far concern with maintenance cost it is not difference that much...

Since pollution and norms were mentioned in the video, extremely few people know this that, one just one diesel car is equivalent to 54 petrol cars in terms of the amount of carcinogens (cancer causing agents) released in the environment [the ratio keeps on changing due to constant advances in automotive technology]. I guess it's time we start focusing on what kind of a country and eventually the planet we'll be leaving for the generations that'll follow us. Diesel and petrol have their own use cases, but great points and analysis, I would side with petrol as well.
