The reason why this Titan triggerfish is friendly is because it is a male Titan triggerfish, not a female one.

The triggerfish is probably thinking, "wtf is this big thing banging a rock against another rock??"

One meme amongst divers is that one took a bite out of a divers back skull. Leaving a hole that you could stick your finger in ;) An Azian dive guide once showed me, and this is true, his pinkie that was crippled bc of a bite in the hand. I hate them when they're protecting their nest. But having witnessed their courting ritual was spectacular. Both swam with very high speed in circles around a rock pinnacle sticking out of the sandy ocean floor. They kept at it for at least ten minutes after which my dive buddy pulled my arm to continue the dive. Amazing creatures!

For those of you who thinks this is cool, and especially those of you who are divers and think this is cool - have a look at safe and environmentally safe dive practices again. You should not touch fish, nor touch corals, and definitely not smash up clams, even if it’s for the benefit of another marine animal. Be responsible, be a good diver.

Awesome video... it is amazing the kind peesonality these fishes have. I open clams and oysters all the time te see fishes eat. It does less damage than a boat anchor.

Cute, but I had 8 stitches in my hand to suggest this isn't a good idea. All I did was swim by it's nest by mistake and it came up from behind. Be very careful around them.

I was bitten hard on my leg, on the reef at Eliadhoo in the Maldives. I fled, using my fins to discourage further attention. The wound bled hard, showing the penetrating impact of the large incisors and the smaller teeth as well. Interestingly, the skin in the center of the wound went white and completely numb, possibly due to the ciguatoxin carried in the flesh and mouth of the fish. After 5 weeks it still has not healed. The skin in the centre of the bite turned black and hard, eventually sloughing off after a long hot shower. We are treating it with Inadine (iodine, non-adherent dressing) and a protective dressing on the outside. Has anyone else experienced the numbness effect from one of these bites, and is delayed healing a feature of ciguatoxin? Thanks.
