I don’t know why, but the way they close their eyes while being pet… It gives off a kinda…visual form of ASMR. Very relaxing.

This was literally my entire childhood. When I put my hand under their belly to feel how much warmth their feathers could generate, they literally used to sit on my palm and relax. I was a little kid but had raised 25 of them all by myself. Devastated every time they passed away but they still come in my dreams.

Yes. You have to hand raise them, otherwise they’ll be skittish and won’t like being touched

I grew up on a small farm and nothing we had was used to kill. (Yes we got the eggs) but we let them hatch too. We had ducks, goats that had babies, rabbits and they all stayed in the same enclosure and ran around together. As soon as any of us (mainly the kids) would go in there, we'd sit on the ground and they'd all come fight for affection from us. They loved sitting on our laps and being rubbed and cuddled. So did our ducks, rabbits, and goats. It just depends how much love and affection you give them. We had a lot of long Island reds, they were so beautiful....

My chickens love hanging out with humans, like they’ll run up to you as soon as you walk outside. But the moment you go to touch themselves they run away. It’s hilarious!

This makes me miss our hens, especially one we had named Fluffy. Soft, fluffy feathers, calm personality around people, aggressive towards predators, boss to all the roosters and hens. She was basically a hen that behaved like a guard dog, yet she loved to be pet and handled (you could hold her in pretty much any position as long as you held her by her underside). It's been around four years since we lost her, and we haven't gotten any more hens since then... Then again, I'm one guy, and I won't be able to care for too many animals without neglecting other responsibilities, so I'm probably best to stick with what I've got now until I have a partner to help me out.

Years ago my family got this “Easter egg bundle” of chicks with a variety of chicken breeds, and as they got bigger, this one pullet would come up to me and lie down for me to pet her. Very unusual compared to the Rhode Island Red / White Leghorn hybrid chickens my family previously had. It was only a week ago I realized, this chicken, with beautiful orange plumage, was a Buff Orpington! It makes sense now!

I have seven chickens total, but my personal chicken (my sibs each own their own) Coconut will run up to me and jump on my lap for hugs and it is so precious c: she will fall asleep with her head tucked under my arm xD sometimes i fall asleep outside and she will snuggle up with me
