It's a really good looking car imo and I like what Peugeot are doing with their new models. I agree that the 200 bhp engine is too light for this weight/size car. I think they should've used the ~250-272 bhp engine from the 308 GTi. A 2 liter 4 cyl would've been even better but in terms of emissions and environmental regulations it's safe to say we can't realistically expect Peugeot to do it.

Peugeot could use the FCA 2.0 Turbo in future cars - although everything is going full electric atm so it's highly unlikely to happen. Such a shame, the combination of FCA & PSA powertrains would've resulted in a great portfolio of engines otherwise...

The EU exhaust emissions standard forced peugeot to use the 1.6. This avoids the ecological penalty in France vs 10500€ for an 43 amg. Good job for a family car

I”m surprised how cool are modern French cars. They have awesome technologies and great design. I drive French car myself. Looks like they are already playing in a league with German luxury cars like Mercedes and BMW’s. I wish in a few years they would sell as good as German cars all over the world. It’s such a great opportunity to get a fun, quirky, reliable car for a great price. French cars are underrated and they need more attention.

11:45 The steering wheel should be adjustable by depth also. That means you can put your seat further back and down. You then have better leg position and the steering wheel can then be put closer to your chest and lower.

I'm 1m84 and I fit with no issues at all, I can see the dials perfectly. My dad which is 1.88 has no issues at all either. For the power, on an open road I don't see how you will be left with only the petrol engine. It's an hybrid. Even if the battery is too low to be in full electric, the car will keep a buffer so you can have full power. The car then works like any hybrid and the engine and braking store energy into the battery. In sport mode the engine is always on and the battery is always being charged when your not asking for full power.

I'm sure the 330e performs very similar to this. It seems like the tuning of the drivetrain isn't that seemless though. 330e is very smooth, no weird jumps or hits from one engine engaging/disengaging and it always keeps some juice in the battery so you never lose the power. Maybe you can test that?

Real exhaust tips look. This car looks stunning as do many Peugeot cars now. I own a Subaru Legacy 07 JDM which is a fantastic car, but I must admit, this 508 really appeals to me, the way it looks, the hybrid, different and has presence. Well done Peugeot.

I know it will never happen again but I really wish they still used V6's in their higher performance models. I've had a 407 V6 coupe for years and it's a glorious thing to drive, not that fast but considering it's mass it moves well enough to not fall behind in traffic and the noise is amazing. Doesn't even use much more fuel on the highway than their 4 cylinder engines from that era

Man this review is so much smoother than the one on the 508 GT On the standard 508 review it looked like you were bashing on Peugeot just for being a Peugeot, but here, you gives credit where it's due The 508 in general is a goergeous car with a great interior, good power and mpg, smooth ride, that can show it's sporty side if you want it with the press of a button, really like this car. Considering it over an A5 because it's all around cheaper and of the same quality (you can get the 508 GT second hand for ~30k€ in France with everything ranging from 230hp, massage heated seat, adaptive suspension and all, while in a A5 you would get tissue seats, 190hp at max, bad economy, way less options overall AND the Audi price when something goes wrong)

As a Honda fan Boy myself i can easily say that when I see a peugeot 508 or 208 on the road.... Oh God my heart beats faster. Fucking beautiful, simple and attractive at the same time. Interrior? Oh i don't have to say anything about the interior. Piece of art... I would love to buy one but I'm scared for Its reliability ofcourse......

All Peugeot cars since the 80"s have always been great handling cars....they master their FWD cars with a fantastic 'road touch' ,especially on tight- turns countryside roads....Renault has done as well with their small FWD sporty hatch-backs like the 2005/CLIO Sport 200 hp.....Harry Metcalf from EVO Mag ordered one right after a handling test against super cars & sports cars (like the Gallardo) on twisty mountain roads ,they could not follow him...!!

I think cars like A4 Sline 3.0TDI mild hybrid with all the sport bits is its main competitor at least for me. In certain ways the look and feel relatively similar to each other. I personally went with the Audi, but I wouldn't really mind having this in my garage instead.

@@sural89 It's cheap in countries where car prices are affected by their CO2. Here in Finland for example a Skoda Octavia Combi 2.0 TDI costs over 50k€ with cloth seats but the Skoda Octavia RS hybrid costs around 43k€ with big rims and sports interior.

You need to push back your seat a bit more and have your knees a bit down with legs more elongated. Then pull back the steering wheel back to yourself a bit more past your knees, It's gonna be perfect. I love the 508 seating with my 1.90 m. You need to adapt a more " F1 ish" position compared to yours actual. I really don't understand while people insist on having their knees articulated at almost 90 degrees while there is no more clutch pedal. Push the seat back , please. And you won't believe the range of adjustment on the steering wheel , make full profit of it. Pull the seat back, pull wheel towards you as much and the the wheel will be past your knees. And to finish , there is no such thing as " my driving position" , there is your driving position adapted to to each singular car. Otherwise, you would be disappointed most of the time trying a car.

Recently met a guy with one of these. ECU remapped VERY properly the termic engine based on 100 octane fuel and a new carbon airbox. Results +32 hp : on this car considering that is a 70k one is MANDATORY. BTW the price is TOOO high omg , like seriously ? No one will buy it , come on , with 70k u just got a HUGE amount of possibilities .. Sadly for me will be a fail. A blameworthy thing to Peugeot : We are in 2022 AND STILL NO 208 by PSE and NO 308 by PSE aswell ... LIKE SERIOUSLY !?!?!?!?

Nice looking car, I like the design of peugeots overall. After the rally successor 205 (and maybe the 206 too) I personally had not heard any other reliable models which would work in Finnish conditions... I had 205 as icecar as a kid (maybe I was 13 or 14), and one thing I remember is that we couldn't brake that car no matter we tried. First winter it worked actually well. 2nd winter the lack of mainentance start to show as the car wouldn't start easily anymore at freezing temperatures. We started make camp fires under the car to heat up oil, that worked like maybe 4 times. Eventually the wires burn up :D. Oh and that camp fire did something else, the car wouldn't exceed 120 km/h anymore :/. Fun times with winter tires at front and summer slicks at back :D.

Why does nobody talk about the extendible seat bottom that gives your leg more support. As soon as I found it I’ve never stopped using it. It’s just so comfy for long drives.

THose numbers are incredibly close to a ~1998 E55 AMG. It has 350hp and 500nm of torque. Really cool to get that in a car like this.

Except the E55 will pull to 300km/h and definitely doesnt struggle at 250km/h. Then it can do it all day long with 5 minute fill ups

Basically in high speed the AWD is gone and the FWD take all the stuff

I just think that Peugeot should have used a more powerful version of the Prince EP6 engine, like the GTi's 263hp or even the 225hp PureTech, it wouldn't increase consumption or emissions much because the car is already a hybrid. It has good acceleration but when the battery runs down or overheats this car needs to hold 1850kg with only 200hp.

@@viniciusoliveira1290 i think maybe the EAT8 wasn’t capable to manage correctly the torque of the electric engine which is inside it plus the 263 petrol one… we will see when this car will be tune :)

@@viniciusoliveira1290 yh that’s real confusing but maybe he has a better mechanic than the 225hp or better traction or reaction on AWD with batteries when in sport ? Some little details can make big difference

@@viniciusoliveira1290 the front axle wasnt able to manage more power without deep change to the battery and rear electrified axle system, Peugeot made a choice of a conservative setup for keeping the price reasonnable by using the parts from the 300hp hybrid powertrain, and to give the user some range in EV mode by tuning it with "balance "

@@vince207 Let's agree that this car doesn't have a reasonable price, it costs more than an M340i and dangerously close to the 545e M Sport with a lower performance, it's almost 1s slower at 0-100 than both. I think this car is extremely beautiful and the idea of a performance hybrid from Peugeot excites me, but Peugeot could have done more on this car, the concept had 400hp and 0-100 km/h in 4.3s.

BMW 330e is cheaper but not when you equip it with xDrive and all similar options. Also has a lot less power, but i think the drivetrain in the BMW makes up for that. Worthy competitors i guess. Never thought i would say that about a Peugeot, eventhough i have a weak spot for them.
