Route guide to Pfeifer Bivouac in the Arthurs Pass Region of New Zealand. Mid-winter hunt above the snowline in an incredible Southern Alps landscape.
New Zealand is home to a unique network of public huts and bivouacs scattered across our large amount of public land. Some of these huts are very popular, seeing plenty of outdoors enthusiasts keen to explore and enjoy our beautiful backcountry. But some of these huts and bivs are a bit harder to reach - they don't see many people and require a well planned trip and a few days to reach. The purpose of this series is to explore into these hidden gems, showing you how to get there, what issues you might encounter and how long you'll need to make the trip. As well as showcasing our adventures along the way. Sit back and enjoy, and please consider subscribing if you enjoy the content.

Thanks guys, just love your work😀. As you are showing this 70 yr old what he has been missing. My trips are not so long or arduous, but I still get out there. All I can say now is "More Please".

Was at the lake below in the early 70s, some in our group climbed up to the biv and saw two small groups of red deer. I would think they are still in the bush at that time and coming out onto the low clearings, to cold up high in August. Great work boys thanks.

Honora would have to be one of the most unsung hero's of the Canterbury backcountry. Id hate to hazard a guess at how many countless days he has put into track maintenance and the thickness of the calluses he has on the palms of his hands!

Hi lads, good to see another great video. Not sure if you know that statistically Tuesdays are the highest watch KZfaq days. So if you are trying to grow the channel and dropping one video per week I suggest that Tuesdays might be better than Mondays for a release day. Just a thought. Keep up the good work.

love the vid as always boys. The outtakes are always a laugh too. How much weight do you guys carry in those pack roughly?
@southislandriflewalkers5545
@southislandriflewalkers5545 5 ай бұрын
Ahh we try and avoid weighing them at risk of sounding like knobs haha. But we've been putting an effort into cutting some weight out, especially over summer (the knees are already feeling it). With our camera gear and our usual kit for a 4 day hunt it's probably around that 25-30kg mark, but it varies from trip to trip

Yup we’ve had the swifts out for a couple trips now and they’re awesome! Great size pack for a weekend or even bigger multi day trips. We did a 5 day fly camp trip out of them comfortably! Even carried packrafts on the way in 😅
