Can't believe they didn't ask Vicky a question earlier. Her character is so much more than a muse. She's the secret protagonist. Awesome film, looked amazing in 70mm!
@AndrewWatsonChangingWay2 жыл бұрын
For me, hers is the best performance, the one that makes the movie.
@rishabhaniket1952 Жыл бұрын
Well spotted sir. She is so obviously the protagonist and it’s her story if taming this erratic beast of a man.

Daniel Day Lewis is the best actor ever. As a person, he is extremely shy and anxious. I wonder if his anxiety has become too much for him, and maybe that's why he decided to stop acting. In this video, he is very polite and he is sociable but his anxious vibe is impossible to miss
@melodyal33575 ай бұрын
True. But I am fascinated at the same time how someone so anxious can be the best actor in the world (that he undoubtfully is!!). It’s truly a mistery to me cause if you are anxious..- to perform in front of an audience, people etc.. you CAN’T be anxious. Acting is the opposite of shyness. And he being the Master in acting, still can’t comprehend how it’s possible. It’s two completely opposites not ,fitting’ together. Maybe he is acting the shyness in real life?? Haha I don’t know..😁

I'm pretty confident PTA will be viewed in the same light as Kubrick in about 20 years, he's pretty easily the most consistent filmmaker around right now and in terms of pure craft he just seems to be getting better

GiantSandles please make that real
@trouper2064 жыл бұрын
Yes but I find all his work fairly similar, mostly character studies. Kubrick did it all.

Honestly Paul is one of the few directors that is a master class l would compare to the likes of Kubrick or Scorsese every film groundbreaking for the most part and tells beautiful human stories in a unique way.
@siwakeman12666 жыл бұрын
Alex Block he will be one of those directors who will be remembered and considered a genius long after he has gone, like so many filmmakers. I think he is a genius, Along with Alejandro inaritu
@alexblock22486 жыл бұрын
Si Wakeman I would be stupid to disagree, Birdman really established that fact, a film so well filmed and made it look like one take also made Michael Keaton be taken seriously as an actor. True geniuses
@siwakeman12666 жыл бұрын
Alex Block Don’t get me wrong they have both made films that I thought was just okay, inaritu more so, But can’t deny how brilliantly crafted their films are, and I can appreciate the depth of there films and how brilliant they are without necessary enjoying them, if that makes sense? Unfortunately for them they are in the era of the superhero blockbuster with one dimensional characters and obvious story and the obvious hero and villain, the brainless masses who need there hand holding through a plot won’t get Anderson and inaritu films.
@wyliebees30286 жыл бұрын
Man PTA operates on such a different level as far as examination of a character goes. Everything is done with such a high level of craft that like you both say, is rarely seen today and lost on most. I remember seeing "The Master" in theaters and when it ended the people behind me started bitching about it. He's beyond the times, such a sick director & artist. Can't wait to see Phantom Thread

He seems to enjoy the shaved look quite a lot when he's not doing a film, at least since the beginning of the 2000s, probably prompted by natural balding. It's probably just his preference, nothing medical (I hope!).

Leslie Manville was married to Gary Oldman.
@lilmissrockchick4962 Жыл бұрын
Indeed she was. Actually, Gary Oldman played Sid Vicious in the 1986 film 'Sid and Nancy' and before he was cast, Daniel Day Lewis was considered for the role of Sid Vicious. I believe Lesley Manville was nominated for her role in Phantom Thread whilst Gary Oldman was nominated for Darkest Hour (which he won)

Poor Day-Lewis. I feel sorry for him. What is he, close to 60? And he presents himself to the public looking like that? Like some punk rocker Sex Pistols dude from 25 yrs. ago what with the shaved head and all the tattoos that he obviously wants us to see. I liked him in The Last of the Mohicans, but nothing after. He chews the scenery and takes himself and his press a bit too seriously for my taste. It's a disappointment, but he is an actor after all and they are rather needy and immature and confused. Poor sod.
@95ern6 жыл бұрын
Bo Byers wow, and you know this man personally? Talk about projection.
@bobyers30716 жыл бұрын
Projection, eh? Dime story analysis, bubba. All it takes is to have clear and objective perceptions of observations. Something many lack, maybe including you. One has to wash their perceptions clear of the star dust many have when it comes to idolizing and bowing before famous people or celebrities of any kind. I would think that you are of that ilk in that you needed to protect and defend Day-Lewis because of your naive and childish idolization of him. Wake up, bud. The projection is you projecting yourself into this guy and living vicariously thru his fame. That's a sad, sad way to go thru life. So, be careful who you confront because you're naivety blinds you to those that are more intelligent and more perceptive than yourself. Get over your false idolization of this guy, man, he's just some dude who probably has more problems and is more screwed up than even you. No need to put him up on a pedestal. He's just an actor for crissakes! Besides, this whole interview nonsense is all pretense. It's phony, man...designed to mesmerize the masses leading them to spend their money on their product. Wake up and grow up.
@fantasticninja33056 жыл бұрын
He's always shaved his head. He gets tattoos for himself. Are you that uncomfortable with yourself you shy away from being seen?
@bobyers30716 жыл бұрын
Oh for crissakes, would you silly immature idiots who idolize celebrities just leave me alone? You're operating on such a low level of awareness I simply refuse to go all the way back to playing fun the sandbox at the grade school playground with you all. Shoo...go away. Grow up. You're embarrassing defending someone you don't even know.
@fantasticninja33056 жыл бұрын
Lol, you seem to care so much. Someone defends slightly while you went on a psycho rant about how you dislike him.
