As a young black man. I’ll admit. This was extremely inspiring. This year, I’ve lost 40lbs, invested in my first stocks, have raised my credit, started saving and will be returning to school online this fall. I’m not sure if I need the school, but I’ve worked so hard my company offered it for free. It feels more earned than a handout, so I’ll take it. 2020 has been bitter sweet- but control what you can control. For now, I can control moving forward. I can’t wait until the day that I can give back. 🙏

Idk how I missed this song but it is on repeat! I’m raising a family the right way and we have came so far. This song represents the accomplishments of our people from the ground up for me. We fought for 500 years in the US and continue to make strides with the odds against us. We teach the world what humanity is. We are the truest underdog story. I love us. 💯

People get mad at this song because it’s essentially about taking responsibility. It implies that you could literally just get up and start working hard and get places. I am glad to see that the video is showing people that blacks are more than just athletes and singers/rappers. I am a black woman who likes funny screen tees. I'm a black entrepreneur (a preschool owner) and the mother of 4 sons ages 9-23, who already have 1 business and 3 business plans for future endeavors. This is the soundtrack of our home, we've listened a thousand times and discussed the entrepreneurs several times. But there's something about that beat drop and Mr. Hartwell standing in front of his home that just hits different. I replay that part over and over again. It's the combination of his amazing skill, ability and commitment to his craft along with that kick ass victory for his ancestors. It gives me chills every time.

Something so trivial has caused civil wars & caused the current economic disparity of people of color in this country.
