Recent Restoration/Remaster of game 3 of the 1973 World Series was recorded and Digitalized off 3 pre recorded VHS tapes and includes the original NBC radio broadcast off a pre recorded audio cassette tape, all sources from my original archives of this World Series I've had since the early 90s the Original NBC Broadcast with Curt Gowdy, Lindsay Nelson and Tony Kubek from Shea Stadium (typo in opening titles says Oakland)
Original NBC broadcast recording of this game 3, ends in the 10th inning and is rejoined in progress with the NBC Radio broadcast with Monte Moore and Jim Simpson throughout the remaining extra innings and a new game photo slideshow was created to make up for the missing TV Broadcast footage and trying to keep it in sync with the broadcast on limited game 3 photos with some video footage added from highlight reels.
Classic rematch for starters Jim Catfish Hunter and Tom Seaver as the series is tied at 1-1 as the series shifts to New York for the next three games.

Same here, only I converted to the DODGERS. I did root hard for the A's to beat the Dodgers in '74 WS to complete their 3-peat. I abandoned the A's after Charlie O Finley completely fucked up that team by selling off great players. My conversion to Dodgers was Tommy Lasorda's first year managing after Walter Alston retired.

The most important WS victory in the 3 year reign of the A's. They won a game that Seaver started, survived a near disastrous first inning by Catfish, came back from a 2 run deficit, and by winning assured that the WS would at least go back to Oakland regardless of how the next two games in NY turned out.

Catfish got off to a rough start, but as great pitchers always do he settle down, and Seaver was a top 10 pitcher of all time. Have no idea how the Mets made it to the Series and could have won it, that lineup scared no one.

This was Yogi's second World Series as a manager he lost in 1964 with the Yankees in seven games and unfortunately lost in seven games almost exactly nine years later. His record as a manager in the post season is 9-10 not bad! At least he beat the Big Red Machine!

@@brando7266 Bravo! Excellent comment. When I was 12, I called that. I said to my friends when they pushed Seaver up to pitch game 6. I said "The mighty Oakland A's should be panicking. Why is Berra panicking? The Mets have George Stone who won a game against the Reds in the playoffs. He was 12-3 in the regular season with a 2.80 era. Why is he pitching Seaver on 3 days rest? If Stone loses game 6 they have Seaver for game 7. Here's a great player, Berra who supposed to know everything about pitcher's since he was a catcher. He singlehandedly LOSSED this W/S. An absolute loser as a manager. As you can tell, I never got over this.

Was that the first season '73-'74 that NBC held for a brief couple of years the US NHL contract? As the mid '70's, it would not be until almost 30 years later before they would be the American home for the NHL. That is until the end of the 2021 COVID plagued season and Stanley Cup Finals.

This was the turning point of the series.....They had hunter on the ropes....let him off the hook....and didnt score again....And Seaver couldnt hold the 2-0 lead even though he was dominant....as a matter of fact, seaver bring unable to beat the A's was the reason the mets lost....They it setup...got a split in Oakland and came home with their ace pitching ..and they lost....then went back to Oakland for game 6 with seaver again pitching.....lost....Other turning point ...when staub struck out on 3 pitches in the 8th inning of game 6 with runners at the corners and 1 out trailing 2-1...i think if staub drove in the tying run there the mets would've gotten them in 6..... The Mets wasted a LOT of opportunities in this series....

Two things to clarify. (1) the Mets did win TWO Worlds Series championships (1969 and 1986), and (2) Tom Seaver did win that game (vs. San Diego in 1970) where he struck out 19 Padres, including the final 10 in a row (still a Major League record) as of this written post (5/21/2023).
