To explore Phil Collins is a journey. He was the hardest working musician for a long, long time and it will take a while to do this journey. He was a drummer, singer, songwriter, producer, actor, author, played on tour with other great musician such as Eric Clapton, Robert Plant, Peter Gabriel and so on... He was everywhere and recently he and his mates in Genesis was announcing a reunion and new tour later this year. They are all in about 70-years old... His 18-year son, Nicholas, is the drummer for this tour. Nicholas also played drums on the recent Phil Collins Tour. Phil can´t play drums no more due to a spinal-surgery, he also have to walk with a stick and is sitting down on shows. But he ain´t dead yet!!

LOVE your site! I'm a 73 year old "grandma" and I like to see your reaction to songs I loved. Try "Someone to Watch Over Me" by Ella Fitzgerald. Ella was one of the greatest - made her way thru segregation and hatred to old age and singing before presidents and all over the world! Hope you like her!

“I Don’t Care Anymore” ... I fell in love with the sheer *attitude* of this song way back when it was first released. But damn, I finally *felt* the exact feeling when my ex-fiancé dumped me 3 years ago, then proceeded to trash my name for NO reason. I was so damn hurt, so crushed, BUT came to figure out just how toxic the relationship had been (with him holding all the cards)... This song literally helped me break of that horrid cycle of second-guessing myself, and made me truly SEE how badly the ex manipulated my emotions and tried to destroy my self-confidence. THANK YOU, Phil Collins !

This song definitely captures that particular kind of pain. Phil went through some serious marital break ups. "In the Air Tonight" is basically the same theme. The best kind of art comes from pain, grief and struggle. Glad to hear it helped someone get through it, I'm sure their are plenty others out there for whom this tune struck a chord, as it were.

I'm Weak For Deaky, damn. Been there, done that. It's called Malignant Narcissistic Personality Disorder. Be forever grateful you escaped that marriage. I didn't. Took 25 yrs AFTER I divorced the ass to heal (only together 6 years!). He wound up treating our son the same way, he's 28 now and Im trying to help HIM heal from the damage his "dad" did to him. All of us who have survived being with a narcissist should receive medals...and free psychological help for life!

They don't make music like this anymore and the tunes you have been reacting to. It's a shame but unfortunately in todays world....we are missing out on what awesome music can be. I almost tear up when I remember the music of my youth. I was lucky, I embraced the best music since around 1967 that I can remember. The music is just as good today as it was then. Embrace it all. I am very happy and pleased to see our young people are exposed to real talent. God bless you in your journey to the truth in what great music is.

Dear Ms. India, I'm 67, and this song is an anthem in many ways: I am a Vietnam vet, the whole bag sings; A long time ago - divorced ... response to my having colorectal cancer, "ya had to go out there to get it": sings; when I walked out of the Pentecostal church, whole bag, again, sings. This is a visceral song for me. much love.

I know that feeling. Every drum beat, every scream. The worst of it is one is really talking to oneself because through all of it that damn piece of the heart still doesn't want to let go. I don't care anymore is wishful thinking until the hurt goes away enough to not really care. And at that point, you can stop screaming.

My God, I haven't heard this song in ages... and now, many years after originally heard it...I completely understand the lyrics and the feeling of this song... brought tears to my eyes listening to it, because at this time in my life, going through the same thing myself...I feel the pain that you can hear in his voice. It's time to move on.
