❤Phil Collins, one of the best drummer ever!!! He joined Genesis in 1970 as their drummer. He did some backing vocals to the singer, Peter Gabriel, and also as the singer on 2 tracks up until 1976. Peter Gabriel left 1975 after the Lamb Lies Down On Broadway tour and the search for a new singer began. After MANY auditions for a new singer, the band decided that Phil would be the new Genesis singer. They released the 1976 album A Trick Of The Tail with Phil Collins on vocals and drums. For tours they hired an additional drummer, Bill Bruford and in 1977 they hired Chester Thompson (the other drummer in this video) who played on tours. Phil Collins is one of only three artists that has sold over 100 million albums as a solo artist and with a group. The other two is Michael Jackson and Paul McCartney. A busy drummer “who sings a bit”!

One of the most iconic drum parts. Ever. Back in the 80s Phil Collins was everywhere. His band Genesis, his solo work, duets with other artists, even some acting stints in movie and TV land. So much so that most of us really got fed up with the man at some point.

All the time he was walking around the stage there were no drums on that rear catwalk, until he got about ten feet away... They came up through the floor. Perfect timing for that iconic drum drop. Great performances also - not only from the other musicians on set, but the sound and lighting crew. Everyone came together to give a performance second to none. Thanks for posting.

Phil Collins was originally the drummer for the English band Genesis. After the lead singer Peter Gabriel left Genesis, Phil became the lead singer along with playing drums. He went solo in 1980 taking a break from being in a band. He released this song in 1981. I was 14 years old! Mike Rutherford of Genesis also went solo around the same time and formed another band Mike and the Mechanics.

Grew up listening to him in my teens, with Genusis and his Solo career, he had a lot of hits, ie. Sussudio, Another day in paradise, I can't dance, Disney songs. Fell in love with someone while dancing to his songs, fell out of love, but he and other 80's artists was always there. Now you need to do Eddie van Halen's song called Rupture, also epic.

This one from Phil Collins (UK drummer/singer) is amazing; I could have his drumming on loop forever! Do yourself a favor and react to Australia's John Farnham (pronounced Farn'um) anything LIVE is brilliant but try to start with his version of the Beatles - Help with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra (same words completely different arrangement). You will not regret it and us Aussies will follow you and subscribe; there are so many epic performances to experience! But don't close your eyes or be distracted for a second; John is always adding extra entertaining parts to his performances!

This song was actually written by him either during or right after his first divorce... He said the words came out so fast and easily that he didn't even have time to write them down correctly, just scribbled them down on something... I belieeeeve it was to the dude who slept with his then-wife... But, yeah, check out "Ssssusdio" by Phil Collins, and "Easy Lover" that he did with Philip Bailey of "Earth, Wind, and Fire"... He also did an episode on "Miami Vice" back in the day where his song, "Take Me Home," was also a featured track... He did all this amazing music AFTER his singing and drumming days with the band, "Genasis"... Yeah, definitely check him out, dude... OH, AND I WAS REMINDED, PLEASE, check out his song, "I Don't Care Anymore," ANOTHER GREAT drum section... Yeah. He's a baaaad monkeyfarma!!! lol 🤘🏾🤙🏾✌🏾

I remember not particularly liking his music. I liked it, but my favorite songs I found with other artists. That being said though, he kept being in my ear and I only now know, what I had with his music, that I don’t get songs with that emotional power behind them anymore. Also, while I said I didn’t particularly like his music, some songs stool to my head, this one being among those. I don’t like the thought process and reasoning behind that sentence, to say „I grew up with better music“ but given that I still hear good music every now and then today, but not nearly as often as I used to, maybe I did. Whatever the case may be: Good reaction video!

Phones at this time didn't have video capability. Only taking photos and they weren't good quality. It's unlikely you would see people have their phones out. The fans of the older bands know how to enjoy a concert without technology. Although, I attended a concert in 2006. Lisa Marie Preseley (Elvis Presely's daughter) and security would not allow me to take any photos. I kept trying and almost got thrown out. No photography was allowed before 2010 unless professional with a badge. Yes. Lisa Presely was a singer and made 3 albums.

Very simply, he was going through a bad divorce and this song was the culmination. You can tell by the words it was not good,”if you were drowning, I would not lend a hand.” And he deliberately held the drums back dramatically until about three and a half minutes in the song to drive his point home.

Great reaction - If you want to see what Phil can do on the drums, I highly recommend the beginning of this concert (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mbaqpb1els2RZ4k.html). He starts with an epic drum session together with his co-drummer Chester Thomson and his percussionist Luis Conte. The transition to the first song (Something happened on the way to heaven) is brilliant and when the brass-section kicks in it gives me goosebumps every time. The whole concert is awsome. If you like you can react to it step by step or just enjoy it off camera - it's a masterpiece. Greetings from Germany

Nice but I would make One suggestion: On a live performance, I wouldn't ever cut off before the crowd responds. You're missing an integral piece of the experience, in my mind. There's a reason that video didn't end where you cut it, and that was to hear the crowd and feel the experience. The late Vin Scully, former announcer for the Dodgers, always stopped talking at a big moment to let the audience on the radio or tv hear the crowd roar, as he use to say, "They have a lot more to say than I do."
