Because today’s NBA is soft and played by a bunch of feminine boys. 😂 Old School NBA was played by men. Where a flagrant 2 of today was a simple foul of yesteryear.

Michael Jordan wasn't even Kobe's favorite player man Kobe was just being nice in the Last Dance, Kobe did not even care for Michael Jordan when he was growing up his favorite player was Jalen Rose, then his favorite basketball team was the Lakers and then Magic Johnson was his favorite player, there's a video where you can go find Kobe breaking down signature signature moves of all greats go watch that and see what he says about Jordan way before the last dance, and Kobe already won rings then, Jordan fans holding onto something that's not even that true

@@hashmoncrief6965 Lol that's a straight up lie. Kobe himself said that he learned much of his game from Jordan, especially once he got in the league and met Jordan and became friends. Kobe learned from all the greats, but one of the main ones, if not the main one, was Jordan.

So, Jerry West left the Lakers after the 2000 championship, Kobe calls him during the 2nd season of the 3-peat, asking how he and Baylor managed to both score a lot during their playing days, and not only does West give Kobe counsel, but he also calls Jackson. Even though he was no longer connected with the team. Always a Laker.

@@platano3000x Lebron got torched in those 2011 Finals by Jason Terry. Lebron played terrible. This is FACT. Every non casual fan knows this. Especially those of us that actually watched that series. You sound like a clown telling someone to get on your level and learn the game. Lebron got smoked by a role player and that was the #1 reason the Heat lost that series.

Phil held Kobe back
@johnnysecular

Kobe held Kobe back. When Phil took over the Lakers Kobe was inconsistent, and despite the fact that he had a dominant centre he played triangle offence, which benefits Kobe scoring. If it weren’t for Phil Jackson Kobe woulda been more affected by injury. Kobe needed to chill one notch. When you look at Jordan at his most competitive moments, he smirked. Kobe was thinking too much about scoring all the time. Phil Jackson tactics and coaching and the minutes he gave him were good for Kobe. Kobe Bryant could’ve scored more in his earlier years if he just calmed down a bit. If he passed instead of taking the hard shot with ten seconds left on the clock, maybe the ball comes back to him and he scores an easy jumpshot. Think, how many times did young Kobe shoot difficult shots when it wasn’t necessary. He was obsessed with scoring, and early in his career it didnt do him a lot of favour.

As phil said: When kobe decided to play ball in his role as second to shaq, they were unstoppable. Mind you kobe was the second best player in the league behind shaq in their three peat era. Just absolute talent in both positions… Kobe just needed to prove to himself it wasnt all shaq and so it all played out like it did

Tbh Jackson needed to coach better in those situations, Shaq was literally the reigning MVP of the regular season and the finals and he had to deal with a brat who now wanted to be main focus. Imagine if after winning in '91 Jordan had Pippen fighting for the limelight the next year. It's insanity. I still remember it well, and thinking at the time wtf is wrong with Kobe? In case no one remembers the team struggled all season cause of this, but with eight games to go in the season Kobe got hurt and the Lakers went on a tear. Once the playoffs started it was obvious to Kobe that the team needed to play through Shaq and they went 23-1 in that span including 15-1 in the playoffs.

uhh firstly it was never that Kobe wanted the limelight. That's your misconception, he just didn't wanted to be held back because of shaq cause he was clearly working harder in practice and everybody knew that. Shaq had horrible habits of getting fat and out of shape after winning the championship where he literally missed games at the beginning of the season where Kobe was always ready. Kobe literally went on a streak of 9 40 point games in a row and Phil literally told kobe to dial it back because shaq was coming back to the lineup again. And Kobe wanted to win so he did just that. He listens to orders even if he doesn't like them. And in the playoffs there are many times where the offense went through Kobe.. series against San Antonio and game 7 of the 2000 WCF. (keep in mind kobe wasn't even in his prime despite the great performances).

Because he knew what Kobe was. Phil doesn’t win all those championships without realizing the potential of his players. He was jordans coached. You don’t think when he saw Kobe he had flashbacks to jordan? He knew Kobe was the future. Also Phil isn’t the type of coach to put down their players he encourages them and gives them a shot to prove themselves. Which ended up with Kobe wining 5 championships and going to 7 finals. Not too bad huh

I love how your biased preconceived views hinder your memories about that Lakers squad. Shaq ain't winning crap without Kobe and vice versa. You want every player to just take it and not reach their potential? Everyone knew Kobe was the next big thing for the league. Why would Kobe not want the limelight? You don't settle for 2nd place when you are confident that you are the #1 guy. Did you just compare Kobe to Pippen? LMAOOO
