musicians cover each others work. it happens. get over it. I'm learning about this great song for the first time here through Phil and by all of you, that it's been played by other people, so it's all good. cause now I can check them out too, do to him giving me there music here.

This is one astounding blues song. A version was used to tremendous effect in an episode of Sons of Anarchy about a funeral. Spine shivering.

I love that he uses sound-on-sound and loops the chords to back himself playing the solo! ;)

John the Revelator was originally written and recorded by Blind Willie Johnson, sometime between 1923 and 1945. He was the quintessential black preacher/gospel music writer and performer, and wrote many well-known gospel blues tunes.

Maybe the overall best guitarist. When he was lead guitar in the band Glass Harp out of Cleveland in the early 70's he was fabulous on his Les Paul. He just kept getting more versatile and creative year after year.

How do you get to Carnegie Hall? Practice, Practice Practice..... sorry, I couldn't resist. I found Keaggy looking for an E Bow demo & I'd never heard the guitarist. Well, he has another fan now. This guy is phenomenal & I can't wait to show my kids his vids over Thanksgiving. Have a great one everyone!

This is 100% his tune, but the lyrics belong to another artist
Props to this but Micheal Hedges was a better Guitarist.

@katie180574 no doubt he is extremely talented. But ANYONE who plays THAT great also practices hours upon hours day after day for years and years. He (and not NO one else) could not possibly play even decently without practice. if he didn't work hard behind the scenes he'd be terrible or mediocre like any other joe.
