What do you call a concert held in an open field? Some might say "Woodstock," but think smaller, as well as Christian performers and audience. Sometimes they were called "Jesus festivals," and sometimes they had their own distinctive name. This is a collection of Phil's performances at such gatherings when he was younger (30's). Recorded by camcorders using videotape, you can expect people to walk in front of the camera and find other distractions. But it is amazing to see how well developed his skills are with the guitar, even in the 1980's, and a live performance at that! His casual approach to the audience is striking, but the skill and technique with the guitar is amazing! The performances are concluded by a lengthy live performance from the "How the West was One" series of concerts on the West Coast. I am astounded every time I hear this piece, and the coordination with other musicians that was involved. I wish there was video to go with the high quality recording of this final song. There is more than an hour of music total.
