When Phil caught a bunch of rednecks stealing fish from his lines, he did something they never saw coming. No one knows how to mess with the mind of a redneck quite like Phil.

I wish my kids had grandparents like him and Kay. I don't mean the money, I mean the strong family bond and the fact their grandkids are extremely blessed with love and support. They are a great example of a strong, God fearing family. Phil did not let money change him at all. He can say something and I'll be thinking dang, I can relate to that. Dear brother Phil, You have misapplied the Word of God and disobeyed God's commandment (Pvb 6:30-31) of exactly what to do when you catch a man stealing your food/ fish. This is one of our greatest problems today is that we think we know better and can over rule God's PERFECT LAW. You say this man has stopped stealing from you "for the most part." Does that mean he is still stealing from you in a little part. By over ruling God's PERFECT LAW, you have not used God's perfect wisdom and are aiding and abetting the crime. We must return to God's PERFECT LAW as in 1639 and form ecclesiastical courts and militias to enforce God's Law and keep the peace. “In June of 1639 the leading men of New Haven [Connecticut] held a convention in a barn, and formally adopted the Bible as the Constitution of the State, Everything was strictly conformed to the religious standard. The government was called the House of Wisdom… None but church members were admitted to the rights of citizenship.” History of the Unites States, 1874. Exodus 20:15 KJV Thou shalt not steal. Proverbs 6:30-31 AMPC Men do not despise a thief if he steals to satisfy himself when he is hungry; But if he is found out, he must restore seven times [what he stole]; he must give the whole substance of his house [if necessary-to meet his fine].

@@1724posterity that statement was made in the Old Testament. It was part of the law. However, we are now under grace due to Christ's death and resurrection. Likewise, we are told to show grace to others, even if they wrong us. It would have been just and right for Phil to have the thieves arrested, but because Phil follows in Jesus' footsteps, he did "good to them that hate you and despitefully use you." I like this lesson and live by it! I caught a thief in the dark with a flashlight going through my moving in boxes that I kept on my porch! I surprised him and he gave me a lame excuse for being there and claimed that he was just coming in to ask to use my phone to get a ride home in the pouring rain, because he was on a bike! I loaded his bike into the back of my truck and gave him a ride home! We had a very cordial conversation during our ride and he never tried to rob me again! Plus, I now knew his name and where he lived! He did stop by years later to ask for money for heating oil for his furnace and I gave him some! I knew it was for something else, but I wasn't going to refuse him what he kindly asked for!

My aunt, when she was living, once had two boys try to break into her house. She was home and surprised them. She surprised them in more than one way, by inviting them in, cooking them lunch, and sending them away with $20 each. She also told them, “It’s better to ask for some help than to steal from anyone.” I don’t know whatever happened to those boys, but she never saw them again. I’d like to think that they straightened themselves out and never try to steal from anyone else again.
