Lawyers go to school for an extra 3 years and a good law school is very difficult to get into. Work life balance is much worse and is extremely stressful. If they weren’t paid so much, no one would be a lawyer.

Attorneys that make decent money at least to start work an awful lot of hours. I work with attorneys regularly. They nearly always answer the phone even when I think I am about to leave a voicemail.

Lawyers work a lot more hours and have a lot more school to make a lot more. It’s pretty reasonable to go to school for 4 years make 85-110k and work 32 hours a week as a SE. lawyer might make double that but the got 7 years of school and work 50-70 hours a week

You’ll only make under 6 figs as a junior or lower mid level engineer in most cases. Some experience will get you there fast

It's not, surprisingly. It's about average for entry level EE. Median salary ≠ Starting salary. This is why so many EE grads are going into software. The hardware field is going to have a massive shortage in 10-20 years.

For software engineering that’s not impossible. Especially if she’s in Big Tech and/or has personal project experience on her resume. Matter of fact, if you graduate university with an internship or two under your belt, 80-90k straight out of college is possible. For high cost of living areas like NY or Cali, the salary goes up to 120k for a new graduate for larger companies. I’m in her same position right now as a computer engineering major. It’s likely $45/hour for 3-6 months.

Only liberal arts/social science majors do unpaid internships. CS/Engineering always gets paid.

I'm a CS major and have friends pushing $40 an hour for internships and this is in a small city in the south. I also have friends being offered 90k fresh out of college....to me that's mind boggling but to some its expected I guess.
