Fun fact: This song was the last hit from the 80s and the first from the 90s, being number one in the charts between Dec 1989 and Jan 1990.

This song is relevant for all times. It hasn’t changed ,we just see it more. Strife, famine homelessness, political unrest, murder, genocide , racism & disease , domestic violence, child trafficking and sexual abuse. I could go on. We see it more thanks to the media and social media. If it wasn’t for wireless technology we wouldn’t see half of what we do.

You forget all the crap that you had to wade through to get to it. Check back on today's music in 10 - 20 years. There will be one or two songs that have lasted and the rest will be forgotten.

+Destrol Hes yes youre right phils day had more mainstream artists who sang with a message example like Biko by Peter Gabriel. you will never hear a song on the charts as meaningful as that. but, lets not forget the 80's had shitty generic pop music to like milli vanilli and others more i cant be bothered to name. the thing is only the greats, like phil are remembered 30 years later, which is good for all of us

I remember this video as a child, lone before I ever became homeless myself, and it moved me even then. Then as an adult I spent over 9 1/2 years living with no home, on streets and in shelters, had to beg at times, freezing at times because Im in a cold area of the US. It took ten years and disability diagnosis, almost dying, being raped sleeping in a park, before I finally found anyone to help and life's not perfect now but at least I have an Apt and some money and am safe.

The Lyrics: She calls out to the man on the street "Sir, can you help me? It's cold and I've nowhere to sleep Is there somewhere you can tell me?" He walks on, doesn't look back He pretends he can't hear her Starts to whistle as he crosses the street Seems embarrassed to be there Oh, think twice, 'cause it's another day for you and me in paradise Oh, think twice, 'cause it's another day for you You and me in paradise Think about it She calls out to the man on the street He can see she's been crying She's got blisters on the soles of her feet She can't walk but she's trying Oh, think twice, 'cause it's another day for you and me in paradise Oh, think twice, it's just another day for you You and me in paradise Just think about it Oh Lord, is there nothing more anybody can do? Oh Lord, there must be something you can say You can tell from the lines on her face You can see that she's been there Probably been moved on from every place 'Cause she didn't fit in there Oh, think twice, 'cause it's another day for you and me in paradise Oh, think twice, it's just another day for you You and me in paradise Just think about it Mhm Think about it It's just another day for you and me in paradise It's just another day for you and me in paradise (para-paradise) Paradise Ooh, just think about it Paradise Just think about it (para-paradise) Paradise Mhm, paradise Paradise Just another day

This song was released in the fall of '89 and I remember it well. Phil got some flack for this, a wealthy man singing about the homeless, but that's total bs. This is a poignant song about a never ending problem. Things have only gotten worse in the 35yrs since this came out, the rich have gotten richer and the poor poorer. If you have a place to live and food on your table you are living another day in paradise cause it could be so much worse.

Most modern day song is about money, girls and greed. Chasing the dream of stardom and "I'm better then you" attitude. Lets get back to songs that carry hope and messages for humanity

Why? If you look at all the views of this video, you could compile change. truly, when you see someone that is homeless, struggling, in need. Ask them, what can I do? And do with in your means. To change the world, start with YOU.
