I'm new to your channel, but what I like about it immediately is how often you reference your mentors. That shows a lot of respect and honor for your woodworking tradition. It's clear you were a good student under them because only good students become good teachers, and your teachings are excellent. Really glad to find and subscribe to your channel.

I’ve been woodworking for many years, sometimes professionally and I learned things in this basic gluing video. ...just goes to show you, when you think you know it all, you really know very little!

I really enjoy and appreciate your videos. Some people are expert "doers" but not many are expert "teachers" as well. You sir are BOTH. I am by no means a novice woodworker but I learn something new from every one of your videos. My hat is off to you.

Woodworking has been a love for a long time, but I’m mostly self taught. And while I’ve enjoyed your videos for awhile, I hadn’t gotten into the how-to basics.... things we take for granted, like milling and gluing. I’ve learned so much from a few of these videos that many woodworkers would skip over. Great details Phillip! I’m taking a class from you in Indiana this June and I’m really looking forward to what I will learn. Thanks for your work!

The in/out method is an awesome tip. Same principle as using a miter jig in that the edges will mate up perfectly when swapped side to side.

Hey Phillip, been getting some remember to, ideas from your videos. Wish I'd seen this two days ago. LOL! I do the triangles but the bigger triangle ......gonna use that. Finger cup. LOL! another .."next time." Came to a similar conclusion after using Titebond II ( supose to have longer working time? ) Also ..removing glue at early stages saves a lot of work. Thanks!

I've been following you for a while on Insta and have been watching your videos from the start. Your videos are always informative and a pleasure to watch. Shame you're in Texas and not just down the road in New Zealand. Can't wait to read the article on you in finewoodworking, I bet Matt Kenney was a blast. Thanks again, Taff

Hi Philip, First of all great videos with a lot of good tips. From what kind of panel width would you start using Caul boards?
@AndrewPanckhurst
@AndrewPanckhurst 7 жыл бұрын
Awesome explanation. You picked your board layout based in appearance, do you alternate endgrain growth rings up then down to make the panel more stable? Thx
@Philipmorleyfurniture

+Andrew Panckhurst Great question. When I worked in most production shops we followed that rule but what I have found in most studio shops is that is not the practice because we simply go with the A face. I think we can get away with it since we can be meticulous about every stage. . . Nothing is rushed.

Does over tightening the clamps increase the chance or bowing of the panel or is that due to errors in milling?
