My brother's accident was a bicycle verses motorcycle and it happened in late January of 85 and he only survived 1 night and he fought like the Dickens for his life but early the next morning he couldn't fight for it anymore and God took him to heaven. He would have turned 50 on August 7th

I admire his courage and determination. I admire that he overcame his limitations as well as his admited drug problems. I cherish his band mates for their support and loyalty. Two arms , One arm clearly the best drummer in rock history. Love you Rick!

Columbia, SC.... I think it was 1988. I was 17, singing along and screaming my little heart out. Best. Concert. Ever! 🥰 Rick Allen was already an amazing drummer befire the accident, but to adapt to the changes and overcome the challenges he faced... truly an inspiration. ❤️ 🥁

Mann My name is Rick. I play drums and back in 1981 I was in a car wreck and I lost 45% of my elbow, have a metal plate in my forearm. I remember when this happen I felt so guilty!! It should have been me, not him, I still feel this way at times. Rick Allen is the most amazing person on the face of this planet and having all the people in his corner is also so cool. That is one thing I never had, people in my corner, but that doesn't matter!! this isn't about me. Its about the Rock-n-Roll Soul this man has. I supposed he is more blessed than we think!!!? I dunno folks! To have something like this happened at the highpoint! FUCK! I don't know how I would have acted??

I've been in that same situation as Joe Elliott when he went to the hospital to see Rick. For me it was my own dad after a serious accident and he had the exact same reactions as Joe describes Rick having. The sedation drugs might cause that effect when it's not fully out of the system and is quite a scary thing to see someone you care about looking and acting that way.
@ilovesteveclark60846 жыл бұрын
DJ80s, I get a bit irritated because Joe relates to HIMSELF and how things affected HIM. Bela Lugosi? He perceived Rick as looking at HIM and blaming him? Why? For what? And he says he couldn't handle it and had to go into the bathroom. ME ME ME. He described Steve Clark as "That was one of MY best friends....in with the 'crazy people' (not quoting,) in a boiler suit" And Joe to this day STILL blabs on and on about how much HE TRIED to HELP Steve and how Steve REFUSED HIS HELP. "He didn't want to change." Bullshit Joe. Not once have I EVER heard Joe express ANY FORM of compassion or even acknowledge the SUFFERING that Steve must've been feeling. Joe even stated "The guy never even showed any gratitude to me for all the help I gave him." Again, ME ME ME. Well Joe, welcome to the world of ADDICTION, where the addict does appreciate you, but just hasn't gotten to that so very difficult stage of saying "Thank You." And Joe said Rick's brother told Joe to feel Rick's hand because it was warm...(Rick's brother thought that was a good sign, bless his sweet heart.) And he had to take Joe's hand and place it on Rick because Joe said he just "couldn't bear it." And "I touched it and immediately felt sick and had to run to the bathroom!" WTF??? Dude, how do ya think you made Rick's brother feel? I was 5 and I was afraid to touch my Daddy because he had a huge brace around his broken neck. I felt so bad for my Daddy and I cried and told him that. Go figure, at only 5 years old I was more mature than Joe. Sorry to blabber on... but I love Rick and I wonder what HE thinks deep inside when he sees the selfish crap Joe has said. And I love Steve dearly, and I wonder how they feel when an interviewer brings up Steve and the ONLY THINGS JOE SAYS ARE NEGATIVE, and a lot of it is not true. Grrrrrr...
@JIF8826 жыл бұрын
That's just how some people react. If you watch Hysteria: The Def Leppard Story, the movie portrays Joe as a workaholic. The band was busy from 1979-1984. The only way that the band was able to slow down was when Rick had his accident. So, maybe Joe felt responsible for driving Rick too hard.
@christieperry43614 жыл бұрын
I might be able to shed some light on this. I'm an only child. So is Joe. I've been yelled at for years, due to the fact I will say "my mom" or "my marriage" not ours. I know other only children who do this as well. I think it's a bad habit I try to shake. Not saying it's right. A cousin recently got all bugged out about me saying something was mine and not ours when it came to my marriage. She said it's all about me. 😞

@@ilovesteveclark6084 About Steve I always felt something strange about Joe's position on him. But I understand, addiction is something completely difficult for everyone to deal with and especially those who don't want help or anything else.
