Philips Bodygroom BG2036/32 batteries replacement

After few years my Philips Bodygroom BG2036 stopped working because of faulty batteries. When I removed device from charger, only red indicator of empty batteries was blinking. I was not able to shave. Luckilly inside are standard AAA rechargable batteries which are common available.

What a complicated pain! Obviously the manufacturer wasn't planning on anyone getting this apart or even if they did, being able to get it back together. I hate waste in this industry. I had to slow this down to half speed just to follow and will have to consider whether it's worth it to try to take it apart. I appreciate the video but having either a verbal or written accompanying description of the size of driver, etc. would help tremendously.

Agree, the manufacturer did o lot of work to make batteries difficult to replace. But on the other side they used most common batteries which you can buy everywhere and body of shaver you can disassemble without damage.

Thank you very much! I had no hope that my Bodygroom would work again. This is my second Bodygroom and both ended up having the same error. But this time with your tutorial I was able to repair it and now it works perfectly again. Of course, it has become clear that Philips does not want its products to be repaired. It has been a battle User VS Planned Obsolescence.

Agreed, but fortunately there is a way how to extend the shaver's life.

Not to say anything about mobile phone batteries. They used to be easily replaceable, but now you have to open the phone guts and do some surgery to do it.

yeah i did it ! thx for the video, it helped fyi : to "desolder" the connection between the batteries, just pull on it until it breaks free it was very painful

I’ve managed to replace the batteries, but it now looks like the On/Off button is not working anymore! It’s stuck in On position. Any idea what I’ve done wrong? I’m not very good a clean soldering yet…

Hello, unfortunately I have no idea what could happen with your on/off button. In my case I only chneged the batteries and nothing else as you can see on the video. I would try to disassemble it again and look what is wrong...

Same thing here. It kept buzzing on while quickly frying a few components leading from the black wire. Very nearly started a fire, so have some retardant ready.

While opening mine when i touched the two batteries the orange button started blinking, maybe you have both batteries connected on the side where is not suposed to be connected

The button cover may be misplaced. Have you tried to disassemble it again and try the button without the cover?

After replacing it the batteries they still do not last enough. Might be a problem of bad batteries or coudl the circuits have some energy leaks?

I did this replacement already twice. After one year it the batteries lost their capacity. So I would say that the main impact is in battery quality. Try to replace it for different brand if it helps.

Thanks for the video. This is exactly what I needed. Any issue afterwards with waterproofing? Hopefully you didn't get electroshocked 🙂

I did not recognized any issue with waterproof resistance, but even before repair I didn't use this shaver under water...

@@Placekmich I have completed the battery change and dared to use it during the shower (I put it underwater in the basin first). The result is correct, no electroshok and a perfect shave. Thanks for the video!

a few small tricks you could use next time: 1) stop the music. great video about diy with million views don't need music. You're not doing a music video. 2) turn your camera 180 degree so the viewers have the same perspective as your own, easier to understand. 3) zoom in a little more and add more light. Watch highly rated DIY out there and you'll see they do at least 2 of those 3 points (viewer perspective is the same as video. very good lighting).

Do you solder with tin? Can I put 1300mah batteries (same 1.2v AAA model)? Excellent video!

Hi, yes I soldered with tin. About your battery, if the voltage is same I thing that you can... But I recommend to use standard rechargeable AAA battery.

Rezolvat si eu problema la un Philips BG2036/32. Recomand acumulatori GP - NiMH 1.2V cu 800mAh - acumulatori care vin cu tot cu urechi de tabla in capete, ceea ce ai face usor de montat!

Good point. With this you can avoid heat damage of the battery.

Hi, I would recommend to find somebody locally at your place who is able to replace the batteries. It is not a rocket science, so somebody with little electrician experiences is able to do it.

@@Savioxxx irmão, to com um aparador philips BG2024 com a bateria ruim... tô pra fazer esse procedimento do video para substituir as baterias. vc usou qual marca? quais as especificações da bateria? tava olhando uma Elgin de 900 mAh, que na amazon acha o blister com 04 por 22 reais mais ou menos.

It is not about saving 10-15 euros. Its about save or help our planet. Repairs are in my eyes better than every time buying new stuff when its broken.
