Thanks for the video! Really helped. Phillips just could’ve mentioned that you should avoid scars on your skin during the treatment. I mean, I see it in their responsibility to give complete instructions. I accidentally put laser on a scar on my leg and it swell almost right away, for obvious reasons

Have only just watched this, and have to say an excellent review. I've only just bought an IPL, a fairly inexpensive one basically to try it out (not used it yet). What I'd like to know is that you have to shave first but instead of shaving can one use hair removal cream e.g. Veet? As I have been using this quite a bit. Thanks a lot.

That’s a real shame. I have genuinely found it to be really effective all over. Not all hair has gone on my legs, but most has. Do you have lighter hair? It works best on darker hair. If you’ve used it multiple times and followed instructions - like shaving just before treatments - and it just hasn’t worked then I would ask to return it to the retailer and request a refund.

Hello! Using it every day won't speed up the results because you're trying to follow the hair growth cycle. I would stick to the instructions for best result.

This is IPL, so works slightly differently to laser but I have used both types of devices on my face and have not noticed thicker hair. I found as long as I was targeting darker hair both were effective in getting rid of it.

Yes, that won’t be a problem. The two-week recommendation is just to make sure all hairs have come through but if you want to use it more frequently at first that’s fine.

@@mounagrissanomadcyclingtol2056 The idea is you have a little hair in the follicle for the light to target so you either shave and you can do the treatment straight away or you can wax or epilate and leave 24 hours for a little hair to grow in the follicle. I’ve not tried sugar for hair removal. If it’s similar to shaving/ depilatory cream then you can do IPL straight away

No that's a bad idea. If you remove the hair from its roots by sugaring or waxing it leaves no roots in the follicles to target (IPL targets melanin in the roots, therfore damaging them) that's why you should shave instead before these treatments.

It's easier to shave because you can do the treatment straight after. If you wax you need to wait around 24 to 48 hours to allow some hair to grow back in at the root.

Hi. Philips say the Lumea is not intended for use in children when skin will be more sensitive. Hair growth will change during puberty so it’s better to wait. Not shaving before use will affect your results because the light has further to travel to the hair follicle.

It works best on darker hair so lighter facial hair could be trickier to treat. It can take several initial treatments spaced a couple of weeks apart to see a difference and you need to keep going with it.

Such a beautiful woman with a wonderful accent. My wife has a similar device. She’s light skinned and dark haired. I grilled her (you know) like a maniac for hours each and every day under periods of weeks. But I se no results at all. 🤷‍♀️😫

It isn’t recommended for pregnant women because they’ve not been able to do studies to prove complete safety there

Philips say not to use it on moles, but to work around it instead. Using it on a mole could cause burning.

No the company says it’s best not to use it on moles but if you grow hair on your moles just try waxing it

IPL uses intense pulses of light so I believe that's different to laser hair removal

No, there's no need to do that. It's best used on clean dry skin so I shower first, do the IPL treatment and then moisturise.

@@mayyshabeel7237 Hi. It’s not designed to be used on genital areas and the instructions advise against. Bikini area is fine. I’m not aware of any IPL models recommended for genital areas. From what I can see online, laser treatments may be available in clinics but it’s not something I have any knowledge of, sorry.

I think if a lot of people had found this hair removal device also led to visible skin resurfacing we’d have heard about it so I wouldn’t recommend buying this for that purpose. Laser treatments or Ultherapy would be your best bet. I find the NuFace quite effective for skin tightening too - subtle but a definite lift

It's not recommended in pregnancy, no. Not because there is evidence suggesting harm, but because insufficient research has been carried out and it is always better to err on the side of caution.
