In this video Driveway Dudes Paul shows you how to easily fix your dead or faulty Philips Norelco OneBlade (Model QP2520) yourself.
This is the second one Paul has purchased and it has pretty much the same issue. It takes several hours to charge fully then when in use it will last for only a few minutes or worse still is when you move it in any direction it will stop operating.
The Philips Norelco OneBlade (model shown in this video) is very good when it works but the battery which is not manufactured by Philips is not.
Paul shows you how you can open it yourself to replace the battery so it will last for several shaves and/or grooms between charges.
NOTE. If the product is still within a warranty then consider returning it if you don't mind growing a beard and/or body hair while waiting for the replacement
UPDATE ...Paul has since used it for about 45 minutes. It did not stop once and the replacement battery appears to be working well. With the original battery it would not last 15 minutes

It is much easier if you use vise-grip at the base and pull the top off. However not many people have a soldering kit handy. Great tip though. Id rather just buy a better quality product and move on. You inspired me to get handy with it and who knows maybe you should make a video on how to solder and which is best for simple fixes. Cheers for taking the time teaching the reward of being able to "Do it yourself" there is a simple joy to it.

This is great. BUT. TRY THIS FIRST if it’s within 6 months or so of purchase. I went to the Phillips website, used the chat at like 2am. Chatted with an actual person for 5min. Told them I bought it on Amazon, gave the model number… and THEY SENT A BRAND NEW ONE, the whole kit not just the main unit. So now I have two of everything except the unit as they gave me a return label for it. Maybe Try That First. (And I love taking things apart/fixing stuff but it was just sooo easy and now I have a new one) It worked seamlessly for me. (Ship time was about 10 days total from chat to product in hand and this was over the Xmas holidays etc)

Hi, I was wondering if this model could be charged by USB (so 5V)? Cause on their website they are selling a usb charger now but this model isn't listed in the compatible models. Is this correct or just a way of letting u buy new ones? Thanx in advance!

I tried this but could only get the first housing off, broke the small plastic piece when trying the second housing to expose the battery. It was impossible to get off without breaking. So I just pushed the motor inwards kinda mashed it all together, made sure everything was connected well cleaned it with a dry cloth and put it back together. Now it works fine. Idk I guess that fixed it for now. I’ve heard these go bad when overcharged and I accidentally left it charging overnight and it started doing this. It’s lasted me 5+ years charging only 20 minutes a day.

Is there anyway that u could use this with cord connected instead of depending on battery? Just like in usual hair clippers
@travisdebaun9667
@travisdebaun9667 Жыл бұрын
I just thought of that and there is a way if u have little soldering an wiring skills. You'd open up the trimmer remove the battery keep note which side is negative and which is positive then cut the end of your charger cord and solder the negative wire to the - and the positive wire to the + then you'll put a hole were you want the cord coming out then reassemble then you should have a functioning custom trimmer 👌

Is it possible to change the ni-mh battery for a lithium?
@DrivewayDudes
@DrivewayDudes 7 ай бұрын
Unfortunately not. A ni-mh battery which when fully charged is 1.45V. A li-ion battery is more than twice that at 3.7-4.2V and will burn out the circuitry.

Unfortunately, with regret, I must say that not all versions of one blade can be disassembled .... I have your same version, purchased on amazon, and it is all super glued, especially in the part where the battery is, it is impossible to extract the piece underneath, where the battery is housed. Where did you buy this version of one blade? Possibly it changes

I’m a beginner. Can you explain what you mean when you mention that when removing the battery you had to “prize it out”? Did you just tear it out? Did you heat the solder and then remove? Also, if you could provide an Amazon link to a sufficient battery replacement that would be amazing. Thanks!

after 8 years of use mine finally packed in as a bought a big pack of blades from amazon, it turns on for a second or two and then off. clearly the battery is dead. i tried opening it following this video and it was a disaster, i am good with computers but not my hands or this sort of thing. 1. cut my palm trying to jam a screw driver into it to remove the casing 2. cut my finger trying to get the battery out (its glued in pretty good) 3. snapped the board finally getting the battery out _ oh well! do i buy a new one or a different brand hmmmm

Admittedly it may be a challenge for some people to open and work on when they may not be familiar with small gadgets. When it’s working it is very good and the fact that you have many spare blades would be a decider if you want to purchase another. I have noticed that they appear to be reasonably priced on some of the larger platforms. I have since purchased another for less than 30 Euro and more than a year afterwards it still appears to be working fine. Hope this helps
