Philips Series 5400. Double shot cappuccino: from beginning to quick rinse cycle at the end

How Philips Series 5400 LatteGo espresso machine works. It takes about 2.5 minutes to make cappuccino/latte based on double espresso. Single shot cappuccino will be brewed faster (⏱️ 1:45). Don't forget about quick rinse cycle (needed to clean LatteGo milk carafe after frothing). I show it at the end. In this video I use black Philips EP5447/90, however gray EP5444/90 has all the same functions.

I would advice you not to rinse fast cleaning the lattego systen while you have milk in the container. It will put steamy water into the milk. Empty out the milk or it will put water in it. You can check what i am saying with empty carafe and use fast cleaning for rinse, you gonna see how much water will add to carafe.

Спасибо за статью! Помогла разобраться в чем ключевые отличия в моделях 5 и 4 черии. Как показывает практика старой Саеко Филипс, любителей капучино в семье не нашлось. Но автоматический капучинатор вещь толковая, пусть будет. Больше нравится экран и иконки 5 серии. Но по функциям достаточно 4 серии. В Португалии только начали появляться в продаже. Посомтрю на цены и на новогодние скидки и буду определяться.

Is there a way to add an extra espresso shot to cappuccino with philips 2200 lattego? I find that although there is no dedicated "froth" button, I can make froth only by using ground coffee cappuccino feature without wasting coffee. Maybe there's a similar "hack" for extra shot cappuccino?

Maybe just use less milk froth (for more space in your cup). And then after a normal capucino let it stand and start a small, strong espresso shot. Or even smaller ristretto.

The quick rinse, how much water dose it consume? And the rest milk, can I just put it in the fridge? How often do you wash the lattego tank?

1. Not much, 1/5 of a cup maybe. 2. Yes you can put it in the fridge. 3. After it's empty and you're not putting it back into the fridge. Rinse and dry, verry easy.

How hot is the finished cappuccino ? I currently own a different machine but find that the drinks with milk are not hot enough.

it was 65°C during my tests (espresso 67°C, milk foam 62°C)

p.s. these measurements are given for classic one-shot cappuccino, didn't measured double shot cappuccino, but should be approx. the same

Do you know if this LatteGo will froth unsweetened almond milk or any combo of unsweetened almond milk and heavy whipping cream? I love frothed coffee drinks and want a LatteGo, but I'm on a strict Keto diet for health reasons.

I didn't try, but based on the technology used, I assume it is not better and no worse than any automatic milk frother.

So I have the same machine and the milk froth happens at the beginning not the end. Shot of espresso happens after the milk froth

Michael, use 'Café au Lait' recipe, not 'Cappuccino'. It has right order.

@@101kofemashina I think @Michael is referring to the Latte Macchiato recipe. Café au Lait is the brewed coffee setting for half and steamed milk for the rest.

some ordinary milk from a supermarket, try to find one with more protein in it (usually it correlates with % fat)

Nope, it's always 30ml of espresso on max coffee strength (amount of coffee) settings

Wonder why they made the basket a single shot (that's nearly less than half the caffeine of a cup of drip coffee and too little for a latte) Even tho it doubles the wear on this machine I can think of a workaround which would be to make an espresso and then select your drink!

Сделала первую чашку с молотым кофе так как зерен не нашлось. Машинка просто выплюнула все еще сухой порошок в контейнер, я получила стакан воды вместо кофе и пожелания наслаждайтесь. Аппарат дефективный или что это ?

режим молотого кофе надо выбирать _до_ того, как засыпать его. машина просто не поняла, что вы засыпали молотый кофе))
