Philly Cheese Sloppy Joes - Brown Gravy and Ground Beef - 1 Pot Meal - The Hillbilly Kitchen - Save money, live better, eat better, cook at home!
Sloppy Joes are a family favorite. They are an inexpensive hardy tasty meal that you can get on the table any weeknight in just a few minutes. With the rising cost of fast food these will save you money and are almost as fast as a trip through the drive through, not to mention they taste better and are much better for your health.

1 pound Ground Beef
Onion
Bell Pepper
Salt & Pepper
1 to 1 1/2 cups Water and 2 Bouillion Cubes or Beef Broth
1 1/2 tablespoons Corn Starch
Cheese

About a year ago, I was diagnosed with stage 4 non-hodgkins lymphoma that had metastasized to my hip bone and chest. The tumor in my stomach was inoperable. After 3 of my 6 rounds of chemo, the cancer was gone. Praise the Lord!!!! After chemo, another cat scan was done, there was a spot on my left lung they wanted to monitor. Had another cat scan this week, results were that there is nothing there. My numbers are good, am on the road to recovery. God is great, and greatly to be praised! Had multiple people and churches praying for me. I will keep your friend in my prayers, I hope this testimony is an encouragement to her and everyone else out there. The Lord goes above and beyond what we ask for.

My thoughts and prayers are with you both!! My mom will be 89 years old this Oct. and I just went to see her (600+ miles). Just to spend some time with her. We had a really nice time together, just her and I. It also gave my two sisters a little vacation (they are the two that take her to dr appointment and such). What a blessing it was to have that time!!!! I will treasure that always!!! God Bless!!!!

As an older single man, you help me in my daily meal preparations. My biggest hurtle is deciding on what to fix as a meal for 1. Cooking for 4 to 6 people is easier than for 1. This sounds really yummy. I also grew up with bread instead of buns. We didn't have a lot of money, but always had lots of love. I have been through financial, mental and physical trouble, but God always provided, and I always learned and grew through each trial.

Great news. A small, earnest prayer can move mountains. I have a testimony... I had quit my job to take care of my parents in their elder years. Before that I had always wished for grand babies and my boys were in there late 30s and 40s before I got one. The thing is, my dad passed on June 7th, 2019 and my mom on August 30th of 2019, five months shy of their 70th wedding anniversary. My first grandbaby was born July 30th of 2019. She was my sunshine in my darkest time in my life, and God knew exactly the perfect time to bring her into my world. 💜

We lift up Kirsten in prayer. I have a journal and in the morning afternoon and evening, I write down all the things I am thankful for that the LORD is doing for me. The first thing in the morning is waking me up to a brand new day and keeping my soul back from the pit. This helps me not to complain and be more grateful for what He has done/is doing in my life and my family's lives.🥰

I was diagnosed with lung cancer this past Good Friday My Dr was amazed at how well my treatments were working after 2 chemo treatments The diagnosis was stage 4. My Dr is a Christian, I have tremendous faith and I have hundreds of prayer warriors through My Church and many others. Prayer and belief, trust in The Lord is what's making it happen!

Our second child died at 4 1/2 months of age. I spent decades focusing on the fact she wasn’t with us thus robbing myself of the joy of that perfect 4 1/2 months. Though God’s word and the example of Christians who did not hide their light under a bushel I came to realize this. It has changed my life and made me look at everything in a more positive light. Thanks for the recipe! I have 20 lbs of ground beef to section off and freeze. I cooked a couple pounds for us to eat for lunch plus leftovers for later. I LOVE Philly Cheese sandwiches! I was just thinking of cooking my mom's version of sloppy joes: ground beef and onion, cream of chicken soup, mustard and ketchup. On homemade white bread. I've never made it before. My mother used to make it with noodles or rice.. Her sloppy Joe's always had tomato sauce added. She knew how to stretch a budget and her food tasted fantastic.

One of the things I make is a deconstructed stuffed pepper. My kids would eat the filling, but not the peppers. So, I did not stuff the peppers. Instead, I just sliced up 2 or 3 for flavor, and cooked it in the same pan as the rest of the stuffing mix. The rice in the mix made it stretch. The veggies were the peppers, onions, and a can of diced tomato

A testimony of God’s work: I was pregnant with a sick baby (Unaware she was sick) due around Christmas Eve, but God had other plans. He sent my prayer warrior mother to pray for my baby one day out of the blue. She was born on Thanksgiving day, which I had unwittingly prophesied a month before. And she was born at 3:33. Number of God. She died 2 x’ s on the way to a different hospital,had 1/2 of her left lung removed 4 days later. No complications and no health issues. Today she is a mother of 2. I never doubted God the entire time. I had Faith in him to save my baby, because I new he was there in everything that was happening!P.S. she was released from the hospital and came home on Christmas Day!

Also they called it light bread for regular sliced bread. Had it at every meal with butter. Used it for everything including hamburgers & hotdogs Only time we had buns, when we ate out. Sometimes we had brown & serve rolls on holidays. Cornbread everyday!

I like this one, easily scalable for one which is what I need now. Finding most of the recipes I used to use don't work well when scaled down to a single serving. When making gravy I always use cornstarch, find it's easier a little mixed with cold water or boulion gives me one with no lumps. Stay well and God bless.

Loved watching and listening to you today while I was canning. The first batch of quarts of turkey I started were short on the water in the pressure canner. The temp started fluctuating wildly as I prayed. 35 minutes of praying and thanking the Lord resulted in well sealed jars. I was blessed to get those turkeys for $4.99 each. That price, was purely God. He gets the glory.

When our boys were growing up I would make a thick hamburger beef stew. To stretch the leftovers I would toast bread and put a heaping serving spoon of stew on each slice. They thought it was such a treat!

YUM! I added shredded carrot, rhen servers over rice. My guys don't like wet sandwiches for lunch....and tonight's dinner leftover are what the pack for work for lunch the next day. This will quickly become a family favorite. Thank you for the inspiration!

I can't wait to try this recipe. You gave great instructions. The correct ingredients for making your roux with flour or cornstarch. I also learned from your advice regarding beef broth or bouillon. I totally agree with you on that. It is cheaper to buy the bullion than it is to buy the jarred gravies or beef broth. Thank you for the method of using paper towels for getting the grease out. I always have a hard time straining the grease. It's heavy, and it spills. What a great idea to use the paper towels. I do wish we could have seen the end result of your wonderful looking, sloppy Joe sandwich. You left that part out. I really wanted to see it. That is a great Bible verse. We need to remember the blessings that the Lord has provided instead of dwelling on the problem or issue at the time. This would be a great Enlightenment for those who are non-believers. So many people get discouraged and don't remember what the Lord has done for them. That's a wonderful Bible verse for us to recollect.
